Dawson fits the criteria of fighters I like because he doesn't hold, has good skills, and is a thinker in there. He just doesn't make my top 3 now that I've had a chance to give it more thought.
Dawson is a bit of a hunter, possibly to his own detriment. At his best (against Adamek), he's a counter puncher. But in there against a stinker (Ward and Pascal), he resorts to a hunting style.
The LATTER Rounds of the Pascal Fight, Sure...But No Way in Hell was Dawson "Hunting" Andre Ward...If Anything, Dawson was the HUNTED...HAUNTED, Even... REED:dancingBaby:
I tend to agree. Ward is good but he aint that good... Dawson was so bad on the night his weight was the first thing I thought of
I wondered why Dawson took the Ward fight, especially at 168. But now I see Dawson gets another shot at Pascal on HBO, for a light heavy title. That must have been part of the deal - a guaranteed return visit on HBO, a chance to redeem himself should he lose the Ward fight, and presumably, a nice payday.
Dawson May have Been Compromised SOMEWHAT by the Weight, but we're Talking about a Dude who's Fought in the LOW 170's, as a Lightheavy, Moving Down to 168...This WASN'T Roy Jones Cutting 25lbs of MUSCLE in 4-6 Weeks, Fellas... Ward Whipped Dawson Because he's BETTER, Not Because Dawson was Weight Drained... REED:nono:
it was a great win for ward. im not writing off dawson as some in the media are doing now. i expect he'll beat pascal down
:: is this actually how boxing works now? "Sweat down for a big name fight with our boy, when he kicks your semi-talented and semi-drained arse, don't worry, we will herald your imminent return with a money-bags fight against that guy with whom you have so much un-finished business, who had previously exposed you". :bears:
Exposed is a stretch, I suppose. But it seems the networks are having too many conversations with the fighters. It;s like...."Don't worry, we know the deck is stacked this time, but we will make it up to you". Almost like Wrestling.
I'm not gonna complain about strings attached when it meant a matchup as good as Ward/Dawson gets made (on paper at least). Although in retrospect it was clearly an unfair fight, woth Dawson having no business at 168. Now that part's objectionable - when a fighter is able to creatr the illusion of invincibility by gaming the system.
Don't know.....I like Gamboa..yeah he is sloppy..but I like him....Love to see him get beat... I like Broner also...same reason as Gamboa...CAN'T wait ...CAN'T WAIT to see him KO'ed.... I like BRANDON Rios...WARRIOR...fat ass average dedication...probably goes all the way up to 180-190 in between fights....but always comes to fight.... Nothing get me moist between the legs like awaiting for the next COTTO FIGHT....the build up.....the first few rounds...but by round 6-7 I'm kinda him...WIN or LOSE...he usually goes into retreat and bouncy, bouncy shit. It's like he gets tired but actually spends more energy by bouncing and retreating..... Matthyssee or whatever his fucking name is....he should be A LOT MORE POPULAR and in a lot more meaningful fights....the guy needs more exposure...or whatever...
The guy avoids fights but whenever he does get himself into the ring, you can expect something to happen (though two times, against Wlad&Valuev, the wait was futile). The fight and atmosphere against Chisora last summer was cool
