    Specifics, Slice....are you a 'Ziggy' man...or a 'Thin White Duke'...or 'The Berlin Years' type-of-guy?

Bowie is a genius. Fantastic producer, too. I like it all.

Scary Monsters is great, I like that allot more than some of the earlier stuff. After that it gets pretty sketchy, obv.

    Yeah, that's what I meant!

One of the great advertising tags I remember from the late 70s was:
"There’s Old Wave. There’s New Wave. And there's David Bowie..."

yes, 1980...in fact, the previous album 'Lodger' I didn't like...and I don't much care for 'Low' either. :dunno:

    'Heroes' is still excellent though.

"Station To Station" is unassailably great ... The Berlin trilogy is highly enjoyable... "Scary Monsters" is quite underrated...

"Hunky Dory" is terrific... "Ziggy" is really tuneful and most of the songs are very good... "Diamond Dogs" was a mess, but it has a few catchy moments... "Aladdin Sane" is just not good to me, there are a handful of songs I like there...

'Young Americans" was a mess, again a good song or two in there nonetheless

"The Man Who Sold The World" was awesome to me at 16, but now sounds a little silly, like a more high-brow Black Sabbath... still, some of the songs are good

His earliest stuff from the late 60s is pretty shitty, with the exception of "Space Oddity" which is just a classic track... excellent melody and harmony, ridiculous space person lyrics, sci-fi movie strings... just a really fun track

I think Lodger is great... extremely underrated... very odd instrumentation, incomprehensible lyrics... that is an album of an artist saying "who cares? I already did that" to "The Charts"... by the time of "Let's Dance" (which some have perversely argued is actually a sort of ironic statement) he was making music of an artist saying "I miss the whole 'Charts' thing and have spent far too much money on cocaine"

honestly, I've never really warmed to him... he worked well with Bowie, for sure... but just on his own, I don't "get" him

I don't like him either. I don't like any music by upper class English faggots that I can think of.

Their best songs are fucking great

their worst songs are unbearable... especially when Ray Davies reveals too much of the Libertarian douche living inside him

Yeah, I mean I could see if he was talking about the really horrible shit with Syd Barrett, but some of the Gilmour Floyd's tunes were alright
