It's weird... in America, Public School means working class or lower working class more often than not

Seems the opposite where you fellows dwell

On the contrary, the amount of great/influential bands produced from these shores when you consider the size of the population in comparison to the US is quite extraordinary.

    American music obliterates UK music.

honestly, without America there would never be such a thing as British Rock and Roll because they never would have heard rock and roll in the first place

Point out where I said the UK started rock n roll :dunno:, or point out where I said America hasn't produced great rock n roll. Both viewpoints would be ridiculous. My point was that the UK has produced an astounding number of great rock n roll bands in relation to its size.

point is, you can't claim this rock n' roll dominance when all you were doing was copying America

Meh. I don't think it can be said the Beatles and Stones were just copying anything. Right at the start maybe, but that's how everyone starts....where does it end?

That is some BS. If it was not for the UK rock n roll today would be some fat lad running around stage wearing catwomans suit.

By this same reasoning I couldn't claim German, Spanish or Brazillian dominance in football because they're just copying England

    The Beatles
    The Rolling Stones
    The Who

These three 'Class A' bands alone obliberate the majority of what I'd call 'Class A' artists from the USA...

My favourite band is American, but the US hasn't got it right in a long time. To be fair though, no one has.

if it wasn't for America, Slice would be singing "London Bridge Is Falling Down" and you'd be singing "The Wild Rover"

of course not, my point is that Slice's POV would seem to be that the English did it "better", which is fucking nonsense

"different"... not better (or even "worse", for that matter)

One man's "The Who" is another's "The Who CARES?"

I'd rather listen to several American contemporaries of theirs than listen to them any day of the week

We've been through "The Who"... "WHO CARES?", says I... they mean fuck all to me... I will fucking happily take The Dead, The Burritos, The Byrds, Dylan, Steely Dan and two dozen others over them

The Beatles and Stones were both great... so was Dylan (and he fucking fundamentally altered the Beatles for the better)

The worst shit the English rock scene did was its so-called "blues" scene with Cream, Mayall, Fleetwood Mac, et al... that shit is DOA... fuck that noise... they killed off blues music

When it comes to rock n roll bands, The Beatles are universally considered the greatest band ever. There have been a plethora of great British rock bands that stand up to any that America have produced. It's not necessarily "doing it better", but for the size of the country the UK has had an abnormal amount of success and influence musically. It can't be denied.
