up until the last 30min i thought that the movie was excellent

then it got stupid and beyond ridiculous - including a couple of character with strong modern Australian accents which surely would not have existed at that time :dunno:

it would have been a good movie if it had just ended 30-40min earlier.....it's almost as if Tarantino realised that there wasn't enough killing and he hadn't cast himself into the movie yet, so decided to fuck the whole thing up

 

i'm a big fan of westerns...i have no problem with it being a procrastinated ending...just that in this particular case it was shit

like some modern day rap music playing during the shooting scene? give me a fucking break, :wack: that's supposed to be a homeage to westerns is it?

that handshake scene was as though there was a switch and Rodriguez took over the movie ::


so it took me 10minutes to get over how stupid the movie had become, and finish checking my phone, and then Taranteno shows up with an unexplained Australian accent :say:

there have been much better westerns in the last 10 years...like 'True Grit' and '3:10 to Yuma' are 10 times better

 

the thing with this argument is that the entire storyline is not a typical western plot, in fact it has no resemblance to any westerns
where's the villian? gang out outlaws? bandits? :dunno:

so he doesn't follow any western formula when writing the storyline, but insists that the last 30minutes have a drawn out ending in order to resemble that some westerns have drawn out endings too..come on :wack:

as a comparison, Kill Bill was kung fu and very much followed the typical cliche plot of this genre

 

nah there was no enemy
it's not like they set themselves one gang of outlaws and chased them throughout the entire movie

so it did not follow a typical western story, thus making the last 30min completely pointless


Tarantino sucks...i advise everyone to give this movie a miss, you'll be dissapointed

 

are you nuts? 30min = 20% of the movie
so if i was giving the movie a 8/10 prior to the last 30minutes...and the last 30minutes are 0/10, then that's like giving it 5.5/10 overall


you argued that the last 30minutes are there in order to make it more like a typical Western..but you admit that the entire movie is not a typical western...so which is it? :dunno:


i'm starting to think that you're a troll, but one that doesn't think for himself but rather just copies the media

 

don't you see that it was totally uncharacteristic for Shulz to pull out a gun? the entire movie is him being cool headed, acting according to the law etc


and its not like i'm the only one who thought that the last 30 minutes was stupid :dunno: i'm checking various boards and loads of people agree with me :bears:

a law abiding citizen...basically did nothing wrong, had his valuable time wasted and saved himself from getting swindled

What I like about this film is exactly that it breaks the darn western formula and is original. Even the shootout isn't typical western formula. Love this film.

 

fair enough :bears: thats what tarantino was obviously going for with the ending
just to suddenly have a wtf moment then cram in all the violence into 30min

how did Leo make himself the enemy? hno: he never lied about anything or wasted anyones time
he wasnt going to kill them either, they were minutes from walking out of there with his wife

Mr. Candie (DiCaprio) became even more abominable after he brought his goon with a rifle, forcing Dr.Schultz to change his original deal and threatening all of them and in particular Broomhilda, to chop her head and examine her inner skull. He was a cold blooded monster. Dr.Schultz couldn't tolerate shaking hands with this racist monster. He lost his temper and shot him. I doubt that even after giving Candie the money they would be allowed to leave freely,since Candie was outraged that Schultz and Django fooled him for so long.

BTW Kerry Washington is a fine looking dame.

geez man...you gotta try to put yourself into other people's shoes and not be ignorant to how things were back in those days


of course he would have let them leave...there is nothing to suggest otherwise, he's a honest law abiding citizen...he got the better of them by getting 12k, so he was not outraged..he won

 

If you remember while Candie was seated and Schultz and Django ready to leave, the camera pans to a close-up of DiCaprio's face: he was pissed. He didn't look a bit like the 'immensely winner' Schultz described a minute earlier. He knew Schultz was boiling with anger and he was provoking him with the hand shake request. This was not a gentlemen's deal: it was a showdown.

 

of course he was pissed, he was insulted...so he decided to rub his victory in schultz's face some more....he was just gloating with the hand shake...he is a rich businessman from a wealthy family, not a criminal, and he doesn't do anything illegal in the movie

so nothing there suggested that Leo wouldn't have let them leave...Leo could have just had them all killed at the table when he found out about the scam and just taken the money, plus all the additional money they had
