He looked promising early in his career when he was actually in shape. Then he got fat and never bothered to get in shape again.
Jesse James Leija SHOOK Camacho Jr. (AND Panchito Bojado) & he was NEVER the Same Again...But U're Right, Jr. HAD Shown Remnants of Promise, Prior to that Fight... REED:hammert:
As we Type, HBO & Showtime are Engaged in an INTENSE Bidding War, for the Rights to the PPV & "Countdown" Series... REED:hammert:
Did anyone else find the adjective "experienced" as humorous as I did in the article's build-up for Jr.?
that was actually a press release someone emailed. sorry state the game is in when this thread gets so many responses.
Looking promising fighting bums for 30 fights I should say. As it turns out he's a clown and a bum. I am not arguing that he's good, just that at one point he looked like he might be.
Basically, Camacho was lucky to have some of his father's physical attributes, he was fast of hand and foot He also had a debutante's chin, all the resolve of a suck-for-cash rock addict and as much heart as the cowardly lion In short, he was shit
Unified Super Lightweight World Champion Danny Garcia, one of the main event fighters on the February 9 boxing event at Barclays Center, sustained a rib injury in training forcing the postponement of his title defense against former World Champion Zab Judah along with the entire event. Team Salita thanks all fans that bought tickets and especially those who made plans to come in from out of town to come support Dmitriy during his fight against Hector Camacho Jr. We expect the fight to be rescheduled shortly and will keep all posted. Salita disappointed over Feb 9 postponement, by James Slater Former WBA 140-pound title challenger Dmitriy Salita, 35-1-1(18) was all set to face Hector Camacho Junior on the stacked Feb. 9th card at Barclays Centre in New York, and is now very disappointed that the whole card has been delayed to new date April 27th due to Danny Garcia's injured ribs. The 30-year-old "Star of David" spoke to Fightnews.com about his frustrations and his plans for the future: "I'm tremendously disappointed that the card has been postponed," Salita said today. "I had a very good camp, a complete camp and everything was on schedule. I was very sharp and looking for that opportunity [the Camacho Junior fight]. I only found out last night [about the postponement]. Nothing is 100-percent yet what I might do now. As soon as I have all the information from Golden Boy I will let you know. The two main fights will now happen on April 27th, but my fight, I'm not sure until I get all the information. Two-and-a-half months is a long time; I could fight now and then fight on that date also. But right now I can't say yet what will happen. But I'm going to the gym today (laughs). The Camacho fight is a great fight, I've done a lot of southpaw boxing, and I hope it still happens." Salita's main goal is a shot at WBA 147 champ Paulie Malignaggi: "I wanted to look good on February 9th and then get myself into consideration for the fight with Paulie [Malignaggi]. I've pursued that fight for a long time. After the loss to [Amir] Khan, I changed my training camp and moved to Detroit, where I am now, and I worked with the late, great Emanuel Steward, and also with "Sugar" Hill, his nephew and right hand man. I've given my life to boxing and I am as determined and as focused to become a world champion. The loss to Khan, I half joke that that was one of the easiest fights of my life. I was not hurt and I didn't have a bruise on my face. "The Khan fight was my first fight in Europe, I had friends and family in the audience that night, it was very electric, the atmosphere, and before I could adjust to all that was happening, I got caught. But I was never hurt, I got up after all three knockdowns. These things happen in sport; losing is a part of winning. But I take nothing away from Khan, he is a great fighter and he saw my weakness and jumped on it. After a loss like that, you have to look at what went wrong and change things so the mistakes don't happen again. I changed my training camp and I've asked Golden Boy to get me significant fights, quality fights with quality names so I can continue climbing up the ladder. "If I could choose one fight, it would definitely be a world title fight with Paulie. After he won the [WBA] title, people started calling me asking me about that fight. I am a welterweight. Whenever good fights are offered up at light-middleweight, like the Camacho fight, I take them, but I don't like to compete as much above welterweight. I am a welterweight! I signed to fight then interim WBA welterweight champion Ismael El Massoudi in 2011, but the fight never happened. I worked for a year to get that fight, but for whatever reason it never happened. After the layoff (from April 2011 to August 2012) I came back at 154, the added weight was simply due to the time spent out of the ring. So yes, the fight with Paulie is the one I most want to get. But I understand I need quality wins, which I will keep working hard to get."
