It's the same with Robert Fripp. I'd rather take a crowbar to the domepiece than sit through 99% of King Crimson's recorded output, but give Fripp the freedom to apply his bizarre virtuosity in the context of a good composition or song by someone else and the result is often fantastic

Naturally, when the two were in the same band (one of the 70 or so different lineups of King Crimson), they produced extremely complex, odd but ultimately unbearable music

 

what if you really like the playing of "X" "Y' and "Z"?

If you know the name of a certain musician or singer within the context of a chronologically changing, larger musical entity, you can more easily identify those who particularly tickle your balls, INNIT?

Surely, knowing the names of the lineup that YOU (hut hut) prefer would perhaps then lead you to seek out some of their other work to see if there's more of whatever they do that "gets" to you... no?

 

I've never found so, tbh. Not with session/tour musicians anyway, usually not even with producers.

2 - Yeah, I can hear that. I'm just saying it's not as good. Tons of people say it's epic because they've read all the accolades about the Demme movie.
After the first 2 songs, it's just one odd upbeat/pop/groove after another - not that special for TH.
If you were to introduce anyone to Talking Heads - you'd give them 'The Name Of This Band....
