I love TV on the Radio. They're the best band since the Pixies.

Yeah, it is ridiculous. There's so many on there that aren't even particularly GOOD

There's many things not on there at all

It's the list of a 22 year old guy who likes Greil Marcus and Robert Christgau a lot:lol:

I assume Ray Stevens was No.1 and Steyn No.2?

I know there are some Oasis haters on this site but I miss the fighting Gallagher brothers. (Noel doesn't like the way Liam is singing "Whatever" so Liam tells him "fuck off and sing it yourself." So he does.)

Oasis have some excellent b-sides. Noel live is also a great gig

I really liked their first four LPs and all the b-sides. (Most people got off the train after two LPs.) After 2000, I only liked a few songs here and there. They just weren't the same band. I do want to read Tony McCarrol's(original drummer's) tell all book. It was a common belief that Liam and Bonehead were the wankers of the band and Noel (though a control freak) and Guigsy were the calm ones that kept the band together. In his book, he portrays it the opposite way and he was there. That Liam and Bonehead were alright while Guigsy and Noel were backstabbing cunts.

There are so many stories about Oasis. Noel is pretty mellow when interviewed these days but I could well imagine him as a control freak. In his defence having Liam as a brother must have been difficult

The later albums were reduced to one/two good songs and the rest was pretty poor.

That was one of the least shite Liam vocal performances I've ever heard. He normally sounds like he's trying to sing while shitting glass

Liam was a good singer before he became a parody of himself and started prnouncing every word as 'eeeeerrrrrwwweeeesrrsssewwwrrr'

I really liked that clip. I love seeing the original five Oasis members (although I preferred Alan White on drums over Tony McCarroll.)

Yes. Noel returned from a tour as a roadie with Inspiral Carpets and joined his little brother's band. The story is that once he seized control of the band he made it a rule that they would practice seven days a week until they made it big or in his words "became the biggest fucking band in the world." One day they all turned up for band practice minus Bonehead. He aksed where he was. Guigsy told Noel that Bonehead isn't going to make it because he had to move house that day. Noel phoned Bonehead and told him to come and get his equipment because he was out of the band. He did let him back in but the message was sent. No one skips band practice for any reason. He did eventually kick Bonehead out of the band in 2000 after an incident while they were recording their fourth LP in France.

What can I say, Noel ran a right ship. The other story of course, is that Bonehead got fired for having curly hair

I'm glad they split, there was nothing left in the band. Noel could potentially produce good music in the future. I went to see him last year and he;s still pretty good live.

I also went to see Liams band, the best part of the gig was the introduction, a stone roses tune. Liams band are pure shite

Inevitably the original Oasis will reunite in the future. Liam, Noel, Bonehead, Guigsy, with the only exception being Whitey on drums other than McCarroll, who sued the band and wrote a tell all book about them. They'll be a novelty act. Playing(poorly) 95% tunes from the first two LPs. And they'll still sell out huge venues and make loads of cash.

Back in the day, an Oasis gig was a lot of fun.

I went to see the Stone Roses in the phoenix park this year. I think there was 45k at it. Im sure Oasis could / would do the same in a few years

    Sure... some easier ones...

"Perdido", "All Blues", "C Jam Blues", "Tenor Madness", "Song For My Father" are very straightforward tunes

The heads on the last two are pretty tricky, but the chrod progressions are very straightforward and good for soloing

Cdogg, this is stupidly open ended but do you have any commentary on the lead guitar on Marque moon from a style or theory POV? It sounds very 'un-bluesy' to me if that means anything.... the lead work towards the end of friction for example
