    I just get a kick out of the dopes who bash Dana White, saying the UFC would be better off without him. Who should replace him? Scott Coker? Gary Shaw? Tom Atencio? The UFC just keeps growing and growing, while all of these other MMA groups bleed money before going out of business.

    Sure, he may be an ass. He may love the camera. He may take everything personally. But you can't deny what he has done for the sport of MMA.

    UFC are the biggest richest show in town and that is why strikeforce and these other brands fail. Dana does a good job however the UFC got into the game at the right time

    Who is more responsible, other than maybe the Fertitta's, who have been the money men, for the success of MMA, than Dana White?

    MMA was dead in the country when Zuffa bought the UFC. Dead. It wasn't on TV. It wasn't allowed on PPV. You had politicians like McCain fighting to put an end to it. Now the UFC is on network TV, runs 15-16 PPV's a year, is expanding all over the world, and are branching out into things like clothes, gyms, etc.


    Who deserves that credit if not White and Zuffa?


    You make it sound like anyone could've done it. If anyone could do it, everyone would do it. But that is obviously not the case.

    When you have such a dominant player in any market the smaller dudes are gobbled up. The fact that Bellator have a TV deal will help them but they need someone with bags of cash to support the organisation.

    TKO Bellator has waaaay more money than the UFC first of all. Bellator is owned by Viacom. The fact that those other orginzations died wasnt the UFC, it was their own doing. Usually a result of paying their fighters way too much damn money. more than they were bringing in.

    How much money are they putting in?

    These new organisations need to find that balance. They need exposure and and steady income. If Viacom are really putting a lot of money into Bellator how come they have not poached fighters from the UFC?

    LOL.. No, your statement that Strikeforce failed is just completely, utterly and insanely incorrect. Being purchased by a bigger company isn't failing.

    I'm pretty sure Scott Coker didn't consider it a failure when the UFC wrote that big check.

    It remains to be seem what kind of investment Viacom is gonna put in Bellator, but I can only imagine they see the revenue the UFC is bringing in, and they want part of that action. As for poaching fighters, you can't poach someone who is under contract.

    But what Bellator 'has' done since being acquired by Viacom...

    They took the UFC's old spot on Spike. They countered live UFC events by airing UFC replays on Spike. They are going to court to keep Eddie Alvarez from going to the UFC. They brought in one of the faces of the UFC, Randy Couture, to be a coach on their version of TUF. We could see another 'Alvarez' situation with Rampage in the coming months.

    The Bellator\UFC is just beginning, and with Viacom's backing, they are in a much better position than any of the previous MMA groups who tried to fight the UFC are.

    Reed we have had this debate before and have explained exactly what Dana white does and has done specifically to you. And time and time again, you bring up this argument. So it's clear explaining it to you AGAIN, is clearly a waist of time on my end. If someone else wants to expain it to you again, they can. But it's pointless. You will ignore the facts and bring this same argument up again in another 6 months asking for an explaination as to what Dana does that makes the UFC successful.

    Excellent news.

    Of course guys are under contract but if Viacom were throwing money around you would see more guys jumping over to their ship.

    It sounds like Viacom have a long term business plan which is great for sport IMO.

    If they have more cash than the UFC I would suggest they will get the TV deals signed up and slowly build the brand. Once that is complete their extra cash comes into play.

    We dont know how much they are putting into it. It's clearly a great deal. And as for not poaching fighters, it's simply. Contracts and competition.

    You can't look at it as who has more money, UFC or Viacom. You have to look at how much money Viacom has budgeted for Bellator. Obviously Viacom isn't putting every last cent into Bellator. But they can certainly invest a great deal of money into them if they choose to.
