Again, if anyone could've done it, everyone would've. But we've seen countless MMA organizations fail, one after the other.

And only one has gone from the brink of bankruptcy to being a billion dollar global industry. And that is the one who is led by Dana White.

Exactly, no doubt that White probably has done a good job, but people acting like he single handedly made the UFC mainstream:ant:. He didn't, he had a whole team of competent people with him, and you have the remember that the biggest thing in the UFC history was TUF and Dana was opposed to it. He was only a piece of the puzzle, a big one but still just a piece. If he wasn't there, another competent guy would have been in his place and he would have probably achieved more or less the same results.

 

I can guarantee you that Bellator is far from having even has much of money has the UFC. I don't care if Viacom has a thousand time more money than the Fertitas, they don't write Bjorney blank check and pour endless money on it.

 

How Many of those Other Organizations had the Deeeeeeeeeeeep Pockets of the Fertitties???...Zuffa Took Over UFC @ a LOW Point, so Really, it Could've ONLY Gone UPWARDS from There...

When they bought the UFC, it was bleeding money. They dumped millions into it and never say a penny back for years. They didn't just buy it and start making a profit.

 

Cool debate. I have a pretty simple barometer. When I think about the things or people most responsible for the UFC's success, I ask what it is that made me a fan.

The answer is Griffin-Bonnar, Shamrock-Ortiz, Chuck Liddell, Matt Hughes, etc. Dana White would be very low on the list.

That doesn't mean Dana hasn't contributed, or even played a big role, in the growth of the UFC. But if you asked fans what made them fans, Dana White would never be the answer.

 

You're looking at it from a 'small picture' perspective. If you look at the big picture, you'll see differently.

Look, I'm not saying that Dana White is the sole reason for the UFC's success. I've never said that. It was a combination of people, luck, timing, etc. But I just find it ridiculous for people to minimize Dana White's achievements as if anyone could've done what he's done, when history has proven the exact opposite. Countless MMA companies have failed, from Pride, to EliteXC, to Affliction, and on and on. Only one company has gone from less than nothing to a billion dollar global operation....and that is the company that is led by Joe Silva....uh...I mean Dana White.
