I only saw Saleta box once and that was in 2005 against McCall. Most of the hype was about his PlayBoy centerfold girlfriend. Is he still with her?
Ya it was sad to watch though. At that age (45) it doesn't come down to boxing skills it comes down to who has left more physically and Saleta did easily. If this fight took place 15 years ago Golota wins by KO in 4 easy rounds.
no doubt. I was shocked that someone as mediocre and old as Saleta could take on Golota. But at this age, as you said, prime form hardly matters.
Ya I kinda expected it going in because as mediocre as Saleta is he kept busy a bit (one mma fight, one k1 fight). Those fights themselves were a joke but he trained for them nevertheless and guy is apparently really into fitness and working out so I was thinking he would end up outlasting Golota. And Golota looked absolutely awful and shot to hell and back back when he fought Adamek and that was 3+ years ago. It's good that Golota lost because the crazy bastard was talking about more fights if he won and he would just end up getting hurt so no need for that. Golota has a lot of milage on him he took bombs from people like Tyson, Lewis, Bowe. We're talking some of the biggest hitters ever. Golota should have ideally received his win that I think he deserved against Byrd and rode off into the sunset. But oh well it rarely goes like that. I just hope he stays retried for good this time. That wife of his is an idiot for letting him box for so long.
Was the fight any good? I'll always be a fan because he whooped overrated Bowe's ass. It's amazing to me that even today people make Bowe out to be some great fighter. He never was great. IMO
Bowe was still basically the man when Golota beat the shit out of him so bad he didn't fight for 8 years.
He just stopped Holy and was very hyped at the time. Lennox would have killed Bowe though at any point in history.
