People are gonna shit on this fight because it was women, but it was a good fight. I thought she had Rousey. TFK
A few thoughts on UFC 157 1) Herb Dean is a great ref but he stopped the Lawler-Koscheck fight too early. 2) Herb Dean is a great ref and his NOT stopping Grice-Bermudez too soon probably gave us a FOTY candidate 3) I am a huge Lyoto Machida fan, but what he did last night wasn't fighting. 4) Female or not, Ronda Rousey showed the difference between a champion and an average fighter by not giving up when Carmouche had that RNC applied. And yes, I am talking about you Ivan Menjivar. 5) For those that missed it, as good as Rousey's armbar win was, it didn't win submission of the night. That honor went to Kenny Robertson as he pulled off a unique kneebar against Brock Jardine on the Facebook portion of the card. 6) OK, I was wrong. The right fight was the main event. Ronda Rousey (Responding to Joe Rogan about all the media around her leading up to UFC 157) : "No amount of press in the world is gonna save these girls from me.
I thought Hendo had one more left in the tank and I was hoping that would be against Jones. Game over for Hendo. I must admit I didnt think I would be interested in the main event however it was a great fight. Both gals are tough. In saying that I still do not enjoy women fighting. Favourite fight on the night Grice-Bermudez but Faber was also very good, I love to see him beat up and take the belt from Cruz. While it was a premature stoppage I think my boy Josh could be done. He looks like he's lost a yard or two
Machida didn't run. He fought a smart, defensive fight. Should he have just stood there and let Henderson hit him? It’s not like he spent the fight running and not doing anything at all to win. He countered Henderson over and over throughout the fight. Had Henderson not had such a great chin, he might’ve been knocked out, or at least hurt badly. According to the fight metric, Machida hit Henderson 54 times. That’s not exactly running and not fighting. He fought a smart, technical fight. TFK
Unless I'm reading it wrong, I think you need to check your Fight Metric numbers again dude. Machida hit Henderson 28 times compared to 54 landed for Henderson. That's almost double the strikes landed for Henderson. When you couple that with Henderson pushing the fight every second of the way and having Machida on his back for 2+ minutes in the 3rd round, I think the judges got it wrong. But back to your point about fighting a smart, technical fight. When a 42 year old Henderson throws more strikes than you do, it's not smart or technical. It's being scared shitless.
I guess I looked at it too fast and saw it backwards. My bad. But still, anyone who watched that fight knows Henderson didn't do anything to win a single round, much less the fight. Machida landed more than a few solid shots, he just landed them countering. TFK
I think Henod got robbed, and that Machida is a disgrace, he should have lost points for this performance
So when Machida was the one you thought landed 54 strikes, he was smart and technical. But when it's turned around, Henderson didn't do enough to win a single round. You dislike Henderson almost as much as Dana White.
Considering the amount of running, im shocked Hendo landed THAT much. I use to love Machida. Now, i dont want to see him fight anymore.
Look at the strikes Machida landed and compare them to the strikes Henderson landed. And I don't hate Henderson, never have. I'm not a fan of his, but he's not a fighter I hate by any means. TFK
Hendo is only interested in a title. Based on the Machida fight I now feel that Jones will handle him with ease
Everyone is interested in the title. Jones and Machida fight differently. Jones isnt going to run all night.
Dan is what 142? he was openly stated that he was happy it was 3 and not 5 rounds. He has also made it very clear, he wants the title before he calls it a day. We can't expect the guy to go on for ever. If he struggled to land anything on Machida he will struggle with Jones. Henderson had lost a yard. It's shame I was really looking forward to Dan V Jones
Machida isn't that easy to land punches on. That's why he went like 17 fights without losing a round. That might be an exaggeration, but I think it's true? Anyway, the way I ultimately see Jones losing is the same Machida lost to Rua...a big puncher is going to have to be brave enough to land a big punch. Henderson, like Rua, could do that to Jones. Machida's path to beating Jones is less direct, I think. He'd have to catch Jones on a counter.
I have zero insterest in seeing Machida or Hendeson get a title shot. Neither of them has much of a shot. I saw that Machida is saying he doesn't even want the shot right away, that he needs one more fight. Which is fine by me, I hope he never gets another shot. I wish Bones would just move up, nobody at LHW VS Bones interests me much right now.
Exactly how I feel. There's not a single interesting fight for him at 205. Problem is, I don't think Jones is THAT big. I think he is still a natural 205 pounder and probably makes the weight fine. Have you been watching TUF? Middleweight Chael looks the same size as him out of the ring. Jones's 3 inches in height is more than made up for by Chael's added bulk.
