How would the Hall Of Famer "Thunder" Gatti fare against one of the hardest-hitting Jr. Lightweights ever that is not in the IBHOF? It would have been Gatti marching into a talented buzz saw that could really bang in there. Gatti had a murderous short left hook inside that he cold-cocked Gabe Ruelas with that he would be seeking to get in there, but I think he gets busted up too bad on the way in from an athlete that was pure dynamite. Escalera TKO 7 in a fierce one.

Totally. It's easy to envision Diaz getting inside, and landing a lot of shots that would puff out Gatti's face. On the flip side Gatti had fight changing power (especially in this one) and in a war was much more comfortable with blood than Diaz ever was.
Gatti vs Juan Diaz depends on what weight we're talking about. At 135 it's most likely Diaz by decision, although Gatti stopping him late while behind on the cards would be a possibility. At 140 Gatti kills him.
Gatti had 2 careers...at 130 he was pretty good and always focused on boxing.....then he got famous moved up to 135...went on coke, alcohol, you name it...until Buddy M came and rescued him....though i have reports Gatti was still partying alot...Gatti with Buddy M was a formidable fighter IMO.....its a shame we remember Gatti towards the very end of his career when Mayweather made him look like he should retire...and pretty much every fighter after Mayweather....lets remember the good version which had a damn good run at 130 where he beat good competition to get a title shot and then beat a good fighter in Tracy Patterson and then defended it 3 times all against good fighters.....and lets remember Gatti with Buddy M....where he beat alot of guys and was virtually undefeated (i don't count that bogus Ward decision) and Mayweather who made him look like a washed up fighter (still counts as good win for Mayweather though) Gatti would have fucked Diaz up and alot of other fighters and maybe lost to a lot as well......but it all depends about which weight class and which career we are talking about with Gatti
indeed he was one of the most carefully managed guys in the game because he could never beat anyone even close to elite
