MMA hand striking can look a bit strange, but it's not actually retarded - it's that way by design. I'm a big Muay Thai fan from way back and remember people going from boxing to that, or the other way - they are vastly different in the way they use their hands, it was really obvious. Even moreso for MMA.

You've got small gloves, 8 weapons plus takedowns to defend, so you have to have a pretty wide guard to catch/parry rather than tight earmuffs. Your balance is even compared to boxing's front foot balance. You can't have as loose a waist because you'll get knocked out by a roundkick while rolling under shots.

So compared to boxing, it can look awkward. But if you got in your front foot boxing stance and moved and grooved in a cage, you'd get knocked out or subbed in seconds, stance, guard, everything is just all wrong for MMA.

I'm on Z's bowling team. He's too modest.

We're called "Dolls with Balls" and this is a team pic.... Z's a little timid and hiding in the back.

Quite a Bit has Happened Since REED Last Posted...Surprised & Disappointed that NONE of you Fags have Stepped Up & Taken a POSTING Interest in this Season of T.U.F....

Anyways, Jimmy Quinlan RNC'ed Clint Hester...Hester was the 1st Overall Pick & Actually Fought a GOOD Fight...The SOUND from the Impact of his Punches was Pretty Remarkable, but Quinlan's a TOUGH Dude...Hester Got the Best of the Standup & Held his Own on the Ground, but in the 2nd Round, he Made the Mistake of TAKING the Fight to the Ground...Before Looooooong, Quinlan had his Back & Subbed him...

Last Week, Dylan Andrews Beat Zak Cummings, but 1st he Had to Overcome HIMSELF...He Layed on the Ground for MINUTES, as Zak Punched, Elbowed & Attempted to Choke him Out...All the While, Dylan had Very MEEK Body Language or as Sonnen Said, "The Bottom Man HASN'T Budged"...Next Thing you Know, a NASTY Cut was Opened on Dylan's Head & Instead of Going Into PANIC Mode, it AWAKENED the Beast within...

Almost at the Sight of Blood, Dylan Reversed Position, Got Zak to the Ground in Round 2 and Literally KEPT him On Bottom the Remainder of the Fight...Dylan Later Admitted that he was About to Tap & "Went to Another Place" Mentally, to Win the Fight...

The Wild Card Fight Came Down to Bubba McDaniels & Kevin Casey, the Matchup that Bubba Wanted Almost from Day 1...Casey Actually Exhibited Some of that Gracie Learned Ground Work, in the 1st Round, but Round 2 was COMPLETE OWNAGE & it was Mostly MENTAL...Casey Found Himself on his Back & Bubba did Some Nice Work from On Top, but Primarily, he BROKE Casey's Will...Straight Up TOOK his Fucking Heart...

After 2 Rounds, Both Guys were Notified that there'd be a 3rd and Deciding Round...That's when Casey Decided he COULDN'T Continue...REED Isn't in Casey's Body, but it's INEXfuckingPLICABLE that a Guy would QUIT w/a Round to Go, NO Visible Signs of Fight Compromising Damage, In a GOTdamned WILD CARD Fight!!!!!....Lots of Guys, who DON'T Win their Particular Season of TUF, STILL Find Themselves Fighting in the UFC...Kevin "King" Casey Fucked HIMSELF Out of that Opportunity, by Not even TRYING (@ Least) to Fight the 3rd Round...

Down to the Quarter Final Rounds...

    Colin vs. Kelvin
    Dylan vs Luke
    Josh vs Jimmy
    Uriah vs Bubba

Josh Samman CAN FIGHT, but he's Also SMART...He's MANIPULATED this Entire Tournament from Jump...While he's Not AFRAID of Uriah Hall, he Definitely DOESN'T Want to Face Him Until he Absolutely HAS To...Can't Blame Him...

That's Why we've Ended Up w/ Josh vs Jimmy and Uriah vs Bubba in the Quarterfinals...

What a pussy Clint turned out to be. I can't believe no one mentioned he straight up quit. That choke wasn't tight at all, he just gave up, didn't fancy it anymore, tapped after 2 seconds.

Little Jimmy is pretty good though. Ridiculously strong, much stronger than he looks, he throws everyone around, and they all look bigger than him. He's tough and determined too.

Gotta say I don't find the quarter final matchups very compelling at all. 2 wrestlers against each other, Josh Vs Jimmy isn't a great matchup, and Uriah is fighting the worst guy of the lot.

    agREED...

There was NO Depth/Tightness to the RNC @ All; The Moment it LOOKED Like it was Applied, Hester Tapped...

The Quarterfinals WON'T Be All that Exciting, but REED Thinks Uriah vs. Josh Could Possibly Be THE most SKILLFUL T.U.F. Bout EVER...

It's a shame regarding Clint - as you said, those shots were surprisingly meaty, even with no room to get much leverage into them etc. He has good hands by MMA standards, he's just not a true fighter.

You have a higher opinion of Josh than me. He seems like a solid fighter, but nothing special, and not overly skillful or anything.

For a while now I've thought the final is going to be Uriah Vs Luke. I think Jimmy is going to beat Josh.

Luke Slips REED's Mind Because he Fought Sooooooooooo EARLY in the Show...But Yeah, he's Right There in the Uriah-Josh Mix, as the Favorites to Win it All.....

    Welp...

Sooooo Much for the DREAM Finale of Josh vs. Uriah...Kelvin RNC's Josh in the Very 1st Round...MUSCLED Josh to the Ground, GNP'ed his Ass Pretty Viciously for a Couple Minutes, then Eventually Took his Back & Cinched In the RNC...Kelvin Gastelum, THE LAST Pick of the Sonnen's Team, is IN the Finale...

    WOW!!!...

    URIAHfuckingHALL...

Tonight's Performance was about SUBSTANCE, Moreso than the STYLE he's been Showcasing...He Completely OWNED Dylan in Round 1 w/an Incredibly HARD Jab, Some Uppercuts and Leg Kicks...Dude even Threw DOUBLE Kicks w/the Same fucking Leg...

In Round 2, he Busted Dylan Up Something FIERCE, til his Face was a Bloody Mess...Bravely, Dylan Managed a Takedown, about 3 1/2 Minutes into the Round...He kept Uriah There, Landed Some Bodyshots & Avoided a Kimura...Then, Uriah Said FUCK the Submission Attempt & Started Landing Bombs on Dylan FROM HIS BACK...Dylan LITERALLY TURTLED from the Top, Uriah REVERSED their Positions & GNP'ed Dylan into "Bolivian"...

Uriah Hall Continues to SHOCK & AMAZE...He's Going to THRASH Kelvin, in REED's Opinion...

While Kelvin's GNP & STRENGTH on the Ground is Impressive, Can he Withstand the BATTERING he's Likely to Receive, While Upright w/Uriah???....

Uriah's Stand Up is REMARKABLE...His Attack is Varied, POWERFUL & Unorthodox...

No Doubt, it'll Be Fun to See...

Being the Last Pick, Kelvin WON'T Be Bothered by the Moment OR Who he's Fighting...& Yeah, he's Got Some Punching Power of his Own...Kelvin's YOUNG as Hell & has Been the SMALLEST Guy in Everyone of his Bouts...He's Got a BRIGHT Future as a UFC Welterweight...

Ok, Uriah has been amazing on the show, no doubt. But was anyone else cringing when Dana White was running around screaming " Oh my god, from the fucking bottom!!!!!!"

and the embarrassing part is that White wasn't promoting in that moment. He was overwhelmed with a school girl crush type of giddiness.

    Kelvin baby :bears:

Hall has looked admittedly beastly on the show, but he is mentally fragile. Weidman just walked through him like he was nothing, and Hall offered almost no resistance.

    Check it out

    <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/lAo_eAM_Hsg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Kelvin is a little beast. Natural born fighter, just steamrolled Josh like a scrub.

It's a big ask, but I'm tentatively picking Kelvin to bully Uriah and take his heart, probably stop him in the 2nd round. Uriah isn't much on the ground, and I think Kelvin can get him there without getting KTFO first.
