It's pretty amazing that the longest current winning streak among UFC heavyweights is held by Mark Hunt.

What was up with Sanchez? I haven't seen the fight, but thought he'd dominate this version of Gomi with ease.

Sanchez looked like doesn't wanna do this mma thing anymore.

Sanchez looked soft in the gut. Still, they were fighting in Japan and some people just can't handle the timeshift very well. He was probably jetlagged, and he gassed out which is unusual for him. He used to push a hellacious pace. Maybe he's just starting to fade?

To think if Hunt hadn't lost to that UFC reject in his debut he'd be 5-0 Isn't it funny that Hunt is 5-6 outside of the UFC and 4-1 in the UFC ?

The best part is, the UFC wanted no part of Hunt but were contractually obligated to give him fights because of his Pride contract that they inherited when they bought the company. It's a very improbable scenario.

Oh ya? I heard somewhere that he was going to get paid the money anyway and they said you don't have to fight and he said he wants to fight. Is that true?

  8. TFK

From what I understand, the UFC wanted to buy him out of the contract because they didn't want a guy who was in the midst of a 5 fight losing streak on their cards, but Hunt refused and wanted the fights. Looks like things have turned out good for everyone involved.

The good thing for Hunt is that Cain is the only stud wrestler in the UFC's top 5-10 Heavyweights provided Cormier moves down. Funny as it sounds, Hunt's boxing is probably as good as anyone in the division. And it's not like his cardio is much worse than Junior's, and it's probably on par with Overeem's.

Struve should sport that look to the cage. He could use more intimidation.

Yup. He looks old and flabby. The last time I watched him fight he was in great shape.

Let's not get too excited about Hunt, he's a guy who got subbed by Sean fucking McCorkle for gods sake. Stuve is just too stupid to stock to his game plan.

Also, I would like to ass a giant fuck you to Comcast for not having Fuel TV. Why the hell is the UFC putting cards on a channel so few people have?

I don't think anyone is getting too excited. Hunt has earned a place in the UFC's HW top 10. Nothing more. Nothing less.

It's just people are pointing out that it is crazy on the improbability scale considering he was riding a 5 fight losing streak coming into the UFC. That being said, no real shame in losing to Barnett, Fedor and Overeem. The Manhoef loss is shitty however.

Hunt-Struve, I agree, just that I expected a blowout one way or the other. We instead got a foty candidate. As for the main event, sure we know Wanderlai can still beat guy at Stan's level, problem is ( or more accurately was ) that Stann has huge ko power and a good chin ( and please don't say Le has ko power, I don't care if he knocks out a 1000 Franklin). I really had trouble seeing the fight ending in any other way than Silva on the floor considering Silva isn't the type to exploit Stann weakness ( wrestling and ground game)

Hunt had talent, that was very obvious from his early Pride day's. But he problem recently was not only that he was losing, but mainly how he was losing. It seems like he didn't even cared anymore. vs Moussassi and Overeem, he hardly put up a fight, and vs Manhoeff... oh boy. And 2 of those were vs non hw guy's (more like mw). Add to that the blowout ko loss in K-1 to Schilt and things weren't looking good for Hunt fighting career. Biggest career comeback in mma history imo.

You don't think much of Manhoef or you mean because of the size difference?

The deal with Fox is mutually beneficial for both the UFC and Fox. The UFC gets to air on broadcast TV, and Fox now has people demanding Comcast and any other service provider carry Fuel.

Both. Manhoef is a very limited fighter and has looked completely outclassed every time he's faced real competition. That being said, my comment was mostly because the 5' 8" Manhoef should never be able to beat Hunt. Hunt looked absolutely disinterested in that fight.

he's a pretty sick offensive fighter imo. But has nothing else to his game and a bad defense/chin.

And yeah, that photographer should win some kind of award. That is a perfect shot.

He's got a pretty big head too. Man, that is fucking nasty. That separation must be fucking agonizing. At least 8 weeks wired shut.

Never said I thought that is what happened just that that was how bad Struve's performance looked. It looked so bad that I was actually wondering if he was throwing the fight as I was watching it. It was just a bad enough performance that it gave me that doubt.

As I said, it's ridiculous to think a fighter would take that kind of beating to throw a fight. Remember when Morrison threw that fight with Mercer?

I'm just kidding. I'll watch the fight again.

I didn't think he was taking that much punishment to be honest. It wasn't until he just stood there like a retard and watched Hunt walk right up to him and throw the biggest hook in the world that he really took some damage. Like I said I don't know what was up with Struve that fight but his performance was bad enough to look like a guy paid off to lose. Whether that is or isn't the case, I'm sure he never intended to get his jaw broke in the process.

Ignoring Hunt, the reason a lot of these fighters looked a little soft is obvious.

    They weren't juicing.
