The Seven-Ups has a great chase scene

The main driver was a gentleman named Bill Hickman... He was responsible for the chase sequences in "Bullitt", "The French Connection" and "The Seven-Ups"... three of the most iconic and dangerous in film history

He appears on screen as a bad guy driving in Bullitt and Seven-Ups (where he also does of all of Roy Scheider's driving)... In the French Connection, he is not shown driving (Gene Hackman is shown) but it is actually he putting the car through its paces... He does appear in that film as the Fed "Mulderig" ... In Bullitt he drove the black Charger and did some of Steve McQueen's more dangerous stunts (contrary to popular opinion, which has it that McQueen did all of his own driving... he did MOST, to his credit, but not all)

Incidentally, he was a friend of James Dean's and was the first on the scene of his fatal accident

When you watch those scenes, they may seem somewhat tame by today's standards, but it is worth remembering A) how ill-equipped the cars being used were for that sort of treatment B) the lack of any type of CGI or similar technology and C) the editing difficulties involved in that era compared to today's movies

Those chase sequences were extremely dangerous under the circumstances they were filmed, perhaps more dangeorus than even the high flying driving stunts we see today

Very underrated, but one of Clint Eastwood's best films. The tv series McCloud was a rip-off of that film and 'Justified' US Marshall had some of Coogan's vibe in him too.

I'm dating myself here, but I saw "The Muppets Take Manhattan" in the theater when it came out... at that time, it was probably my favorite NYC film:lol:

When I was little, the New York station WPIX (Channel 11) used to show old movies (they really weren't that old at the time) on the weekends and my father used to love to watch them, especially if there was no Yankee game on or no NFL, and I got to see "The French Connection" "Pelham 123", all of these awesome 70s films based in the city and I'd ask him about living there and all of that... good times, really cultivated my love for the place and the time
