My thinking's along the lines of who's body would you most like to have as a blank canvas to create a fighter. Though I wouldn't necessarily include chin in the equation when I think 'athletic', which def makes the 'translation' problematic
Isn't "athletic" pretty fucking obvious? Speed, mobility, agility, stamina, workrate, etc all fall under athleticism. And it's clearly an important part of boxing, for starters it's the main reason Roy was as successful as he was, being possibly the best athlete in boxing history. Second, it's why a scrub like Khan can reach world level, while having the IQ and boxing skill of a fencepost and the chin of an 84 year old woman.
It helps ;) - You consider Paz athletic? To be honest I've only seen him against Roy and maybe because of the contrast didn't look athletic to me. :dunno:
Pacquiao has always been very athletic. Before he became more polished, it was really just pure athleticism and ferociousness that made him as successful as he was. Duran was athletic too. Fast, with insane stamina and workrate, and pretty agile too, with great head and upper body movement.
if it was so obvious, we wouldn't have to argue... Why do you include stamina and not power or strength. Stamina has imo nothing to do with it. there are powerlifters who can jump 1 meter in the air standing. They can do it maybe two times before collapsing though - then some guy can move slow and jump 20 cm for a day. who's more athletic in your eyes?
Stamina is absolutely part of athleticism, just a different part. Like world class sprinters Vs long distance runners, they are both elite athletes.
Wlad's stamina isn't bad. He only gassed in fights where he tried way to hard to finish the guy. Brewster is a perfect example. Wlad basically beat himself that night.
Wlad stamina is bad, he always gassed when he gets pushed a bit. It's easy to fight 12 rounds against a punching bag,
Paz was Juiced Up & Overly Muscled by the Time he Fought Roy...@ Lightweight, Paz was VERY Athletic... REED:dancingBaby:
You really can't judge Paz's athleticism from the Jones fight. He was much better at Lightweight and he was still good up until 154 but then he got into that car accident. And then when he came back from that, he started with the steroids and he was way too bulky and lost a lot of his quickness.
i can recall the real black mamba giving pazienza a beating, and then punching the shit out of his punkass loudmouth corner man. i also remember when pazienza claimed he would "whup the piss" outta some jewish bloke. only to lose then there was the time clark kent davis bashed pazienza's face in those were memorable moments in the life of a scumbag
Yawn. The usual douchebag/troll comments from Neil. It must suck to be you...a major part of the downhill slide of this forum. Speaking of scumbags, did you get all tingly when douchebag Mayweather got in some other fighter's wife's face?? I bet you, since you are an asshole and a nuthugger, thought that was the coolest.
