I'm hoping after GSP lays on top of Diaz for 5 rounds, Diaz will be so frustrated that fighters don't just stand there and let him hit them anymore, that he just ups and quits MMA, for good this time. His act is old and tired and the sport is better off without him. TFK
Diaz Seems OBLIVIOUS as to Why he's Cast in the "Bad Guy" Role Here...As if he Hasn't Referred to Opponents as "Punk Ass Bitch" & Mean Mugged for the Cameras Before Just About EVERY Fight...Diaz has Nobody but Himself to Blame, for Having the "Black Hat" Thrust Upon Him... PLUS, he's Fighting GSP, who's the Quintessential Likable, "Good Guy" MMAist... Chael Sonnen Played the Villain MASTERFULLY...THAT'S the Path Diaz Chose...He's a Weed Smoking, Counter Culture MMA Figure...Diaz Fans LIKE it that he's an Asshole...They LIKE his Perpetual Frown...They LIKE his Drug Suspensions... Diaz Should EMBRACE that Shit & Quit Whining, Acting like he's Misunderstood... REED:hammert:
Diaz is great, he's a high action fighter and is rarely in a boring fight. I don't know why you would say MMA is better off without him.
Diaz is a mentally weak crybaby. He's a one dimensional fighter who was completely dumbfounded when Condit didn't just stand there and let Diaz pepper him with his signature pitty-pat punches. He cries when he loses. He cries when opponents don't fight the type of fight he wants to fight. He cries about being taken to task for things he's obligated to do. He cries when being called out on his drug addiction. His act has become as played out and ridiculous as his 'mean face'. TFK
Ok, so you don't like him as a person, it doesn't change the fact that he's a good fighter and always in good fights.
Diaz is a solid B level fighter who is too one dimensional to ever be elite. The blueprint to beat him is out there, and that blueprint happens to be GSP's strongpoint. I don't really even see this fight being competative. It's gonna be 5 rounds of GSP laying on top of Diaz, then 5 months of Diaz making excuses and calling GSP a pussy for not standing still and letting Diaz punch him before he tries to talk himself into another undeserved title shot in another weightclass. He's not good enough of a fighter to justify all of the baggage you get with him, in spite of the legions of stoner MMA fans who look at Diaz as some sort of hero. TFK
I like the Diaz brothers. Them being idiots at times doesn't really bother me since I enjoy watching them fight. You can't really call Nick one dimensional, he's got 2 solid dimensions. His BJJ is great, and he's been out boxing a lot of guys.
I agree with that, I'd say Nick is pretty much all swarm boxing/stamina/toughness. I don't see any great BJJ.
that was entertaining. it was funny to see GSP actually talk some shit. diaz actually made some solid points in there.
He's a legit gracie BB. Look up some of his BJJ matches, there are a ton on youtube. He doesn't use it much in MMA because he punches the shit out of everyone.
SURELY Diaz Keeps his BJJ Skills @ Least SOMEWHAT Sharp, in Training Camp... REED Favors GSP by a 65-35, 70-30 Margin, Still, he'd Better Be CAREFUL when he's Got Diaz on the Ground...It's NOT like U Can Take Dude LIGHTLY Down There.... REED:mj:
Video of what? Nick's sick ass BJJ? A gif of this was my signature for about 6 months when TLC ran his mouth about Aoki being great because he pulled off a gogoplata win. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/FR9gpJJ2qTQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Find me another gogoplata finish in high level MMA by someone not named Aoki.... Diaz has very good BJJ and is absolutely solid off his back. He freaking tapped out Macaco in a grappling competition. And please no one give me that horse shit about not having a ton of submission victories. He's subbed more guys in MMA than BJ Penn and everyone foams about BJ's grappling. Diaz has subbed guys off his back in 7 different fights. I'm not saying he'll beat GSP but it's not because his BJJ isn't top notch. Again, Penn is a great BJJ player and it didn't help against GSP.
There are plenty of guys that suck on the ground. All I'm asking for is another example of a high level MMA win via gogoplata. Gomi certainly isn't the worst grappler in MMA. And seriously, you know better than saying Diaz doesn't train BJJ. Hell even while he was suspended he worked BJJ with Nate while training for the Henderson fight.
How do i know better? You are talking about his BJJ from 2007 man. And who cares if he trained with his brother for the Henderson fight in which his brother got beat. IMO nate is better at BJJ than Nick. Nate regularly practices his BJJ. Nick Doesnt.
I will say this. If nick stuck to his BJJ training since the gomi and trained regulary. By now he would be FUCKING INSANE. That is how good he WAS. Today? his bjj is lacking IMO.
Ridiculous. I'm not talking about BJJ from 2007. I'm talking about a specific submission win from 2007. Hell, Nick used his shitty BJJ to armbar Santos (from the bottom mind you) as recently as 2011. Again, the point is very simple but I'll make it again. If Nick's BJJ is so horrible then show me another high level MMA fighter that has as many wins via submission off his back as Nick Diaz? Or a gogoplata win? It should be easy, right? I'll wait.......................... And the point about Nick PUBLICLY training BJJ with Nate just a few months ago is a response to your comment "ALL HE TRAINS IS BOXING". Quite clearly that's not true. Get the point now?
Im sorry, i dont get your point. The submission from 2007 was not BJJ? And so what if he subbed Santos. Santos is far from an Elite MMA fighter. Who knows and who cares? My point is that Nick has not maintained his BJJ. What he did in the past means shit to this conversation. And what is this shit about a gogoplata? Are you suggestion no MMA fighter has ever gotten a win via gogopata other than Nick Diaz? Training with his brother for his brother's fight, in which is brother lost doesnt mean Diaz is training BJJ himself. Rolling around for some bullshit is exactly that, bullshit. Im talking about Real training. learning, focusing, advancing in rank, etc. He doesnt do it.
LOL Dude, not to be dismissive but let's get real. Nick training BJJ with his brother for a championship fight is higher level grappling practice than just rolling around on the mat. Holy shit. But even more importantly, Nick was training to compete at the World Jiu-jitsu Expo in May of 2012. In my oil that's pretty recent. Right? And for your "use it or lose it" comment, here's a brain teaser for you. Who has more MMA submission wins since 2009, Maia or Nick Diaz? The answer is Nick Diaz. Oh hell does they mean Maia's jiu jitsu is now crap.?
Regarding the gogoplata. I think my question was very very simple. Just show me another one in a high level MMA bout. We mentioned Aoki's. The point is that, against any level of competition, it is a rare submission in MMA. I've watched as much MMA as anyone on here and it just doesn't happen. its also hilarious that you indicated that Nick's neglected is BJJ since the Gomi. That strikes me as almost ludicrous since he didn't get his black belt until AFTER the Gomi fight. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have to work at BJJ to earn a black belt. This has really become laughable now.
Not really. those are just two brothers rolling around. Im pretty sure his brother is not his main BJJ sparring partner. Nick had not started training for the May event until April. 1 month prior. months after his fight last MMA fight. So considering he knew he was going to be banned from MMA for a while, him STARTING to train BJJ seriously again was his only options. Because Small tourney's like that is all he would be able to participate in. But like i said. He trained for only 1 month. And most of that month he was in trying to fight his suspension. The answer is Nick Diaz. Oh hell does they mean Maia's jiu jitsu is now crap.? Irrelevant. Submissions is not exclussive to BJJ. And submitting someone more than someone else does not mean that you have used more BJJ than someone who hasnt. Maia used his BJJ to get decisions 90% of the time. Diaz did not use BJJ 90% of the time in his fights to get the submission. To say Diaz has used more BJJ than Maia is a lie and irresponsible. And even if you didn't say it, you are implying it.
So what? that was in 2007. When he was actively working on his BJJ. Who gives a shit what happened 6 years ago against Gomi? My point is today. Yeah it still doesnt happen. Nick hasnt done it since. Because like i said, he doesn't practice his BJJ often. It's all boxing to him. I dont believe i said he neglected his BJJ right after Gomi. I am talking about today. The last few years. He has really neglected it. So im not quite sure what is laughable. I am using the 2007 submission as a time frame. I have no clue when he specifically stopped focusing on BJJ. My guess is right after the Noons fight. But lets also be clear on black belt BJJ. Most brown belt's are black belts that just havent gotten their black yet. So no, it really doesnt mean shit if he got his black after Gomi. Hell. he could have gotten his black specifically because of the Gomi win.
