    It's OBVIOUS...

Leading up to the Super Six Tournament, Ward was a Roy Jones Wannabe...Lacking Roy's Natural Talent, Ward was Dropped & Chin Checked Several times, by Mediocre Opposition...Once the Super Six Began, he Morphed Into a (Past Prime) BHop Wannabe...

Hopkins' MO is Safer...Hopkins' MO can Be Effective even AFTER Talent has Waned & Age has Set In...

Bernard Said he Could Beat ANYBODY @ 175 & "Just about Anybody" @ 168...REED Figured he was Referring to Ward...

if he were fighting the top 10 of 1979 in that division, he'd have a string of one-sided defeats by now

Ward plain and simple is too fast and elusive for the current Hopkins, and if need be can maintain a faster pace due to his youth.

Hopkins would do well not get dominated, but I see NO WAY of him actually WINNING.

Prime for prime, Hop beats the shit outta Ward, but not at 48 years old.

Ward is several levels above Cloud, Dawson, and Pascal.

I'm not sure prime Hopkins "beats the shit" out of Ward, but I'd definitely pick him to win. Agreed with the rest though

dawson sure beat hopkins handily. enough in fact that he probably would've beaten a prime hopkins. dawson just had too much for hopkins. too much strength. too much skill. too much speed. and too much height. he fought hopkins right, unlike cloud, dawson and tarver and pavlik who seemed clueless in there.

what makes hopkins effective..his biggest strenght... is that he's really good at not telegraphing his punches. he is sneaky in this sense and allows him to surprise his opponents.

I wouldn't be surprised if he did. The circa 00-01 Hopkins would beat Ward up. He had the reflexes then to catch Ward easily, and could maintain a pace that Dre wouldn't be able to handle.

I just got there a week ago and, if anything, I am more sick of Hopkins than ever.

    I agree that Hopkins wins, I don't think it's a one-sided beatdown though.

Hopkins clearly said to Ward that he ain't fighting him.

B-Hop ain't stupid. He takes fights with guys he knows he can beat. And he knows his old ass can't beat Ward.

Yeah, this 48 year old version probably.

Maybe when he was a bit "younger", like in the Tarver fight, he could compete against many of the vintage era lightheavys.

There's no 175 version of Hop that beats the Qawi's, Saad's, EMM's, and of course, Spinks would have knocked his ass out.

Maybe. It must be noted however that even these modern guys SHOULD beat Hopkins fairly easily. He hardly throws any punches anymore, he spoils fights, wrestles and hasn't knocked out anyone in a decade. Yet, the cockroach stays alive. He is much more difficult to beat than you'd think. Hopkins didn't look all that spectacular before his fights against Tito, Wright etc either, but he is able to make the other guy look even worse

Just as I thought, Cloud is just not very good. He can't adapt to anything, he just does the same crap over and over. Way too basic to beat a guy with as many tricks as Hopkins. Cloud needed to be far more aggressive, he let an old man dictate the pace. That's exactly what you shouldn't do against Hopkins.

Yeah, at least Jermain Taylor just went in there and scrubily tried to outwork Hopkins.

Cloud could have done much better, I don't know why he had so much respect for Hopkins. He fought like Hopkins was some huge puncher. Very strange.

I had Hopkins winning the rematch

Taylor barely won the first, but he did "win"

Taylor won the first fight for sure. Rematch was impossible to score.
