I dunno who's uglier, Provo or Maidana. If those two ever fought, it'd be a battle of two of the top 5 ugliest fuckers boxing has ever seen.
Finally watched the fight this morning. Holy shit what a bout. Bradley is like a fucking machine. How do you get separated from your senses that many times but continue to seem that you're in the fight? I scored the 1st and 12th as 10-8 and ended up with a draw. The idea of the second round being a 10-8 is a little difficult for me. I think you have to give Bradley credit for NOT going down. As funny as it sounds, that kind of resolve has to be rewarded in the scoring. I thought the brutality of the fight was clearly indicated by the fact that both corners thought about stopping the fight because of the punishment their guys were taking. Just amazing.
triple, what about all the times bradley was held up by the ropes - when he would've gone down had it not neen for the ropes? shouldn't those have been counted as knock downs?
I would pick Rios over Ruslan without hesitation. Rios would outwork him and pound him in the rounds he takes off.
To me, and I might be wrong, it's a judgement call. And given the way Bradley stayed on his feet despite being completely out of it, I don't know that he goes down more than the 2 times that he did. in the 12th I think the ropes kept Bradley up on a couple of occasions. But had the ref declared the first time a knockdown and given Bradley an 8 count, I think he would have composed himself and actually been better off. In other words, I don't think he gets decked twice in the 12th. The 2nd round for me is really the grey area in this fight. To me, not scoring it 10-8 SHOULD have been the difference between a draw and a Bradley loss.
That was a fun fight to watch. Impressed with both guys. I didn't think Bradley had the heart for a fight like that. First time seeing Ruslan, the boy did good. If the first round was scored a knock-down he could have won..
would have been a draw. And yeah. That card produced four guys I'm interested in watching again. The Vargas/Lucky Boy fight was nice too.
the undercard off tv had some nice prospects too. oscar valdez looked very sharp in bashing some mullet clad clown who missed weight by 15 pounds. valdez still took the fight and bashed him. this guys hair was Jorge Luis gonzalez-esque. also jesse magdelano fought. he's all action and more talented than his brother who is fighting for a title in macau coming up
Nice fight. Provy obviously hurt Bradley worse throughout the fight, but Bradley somehow put rounds in the bank whenever he decided not to straight up trade with the guy. I think a draw would have been the best outcome. I don't think I can be outraged with either guy winning a close decision. Hopefully they do it again. I don't think I've ever really been impressed with Ruslan before this fight. Bradley is not really a puncher so I'm not sure why he chose to stand in front of him for a good portion of the bout.
It's not funny at all - that's the whole reason NOT to go down. I'd be ok scoring round 10-8 if you think a judge can score a KD despite the ref's ruling. If you're gonna score a round 10-8 without a KD, then would you score that round 10-7 if there was a KD? you have to, imo. It's a shame because Prov did more damage and should've knocked Bradley out, but Bradley won the fight imo, he won it in round 7-11, when he decided not to stand and trade with Prov like an eeejit. If he has half a brain he'd win the rematch by a wider margin because he doesn't stand in a phone booth and slug it out with a guy who can punch and take whatever Bradley dishes out. anyone think roy jones was shite last night? either he is biased for bradley or he is just trying to say the opposite of kellerman out of spite, but his take on Prov not being able to hurt Bradley late in the fight was way off-base.
I think the rematch would be boring and a comfortable decision for Bradders. Like Hitman said, whilst it was great for the fans, Tim played into the Russians hands. I doubt he'd fight Prov's fight again in a rematch.
Maybe..but it will still probably be the best Opponents Floyd Mayweather faces in that 6 fight deal. If he doesn't face Ginger or Martinez.
I think many of you are confusing Bradley for having the skill and ability of Andre Ward or something. Even if he boxes more, he'd still get hit. In a rematch, what if Provo does a better job at cutting the ring, and works the BODY more (which he neglected to do last night), what then? Yall act like the rematch would be some foregone conclusion win for Bradley, but I don't see it that way. Bradley isn't a "boxer" per say. If I'm Bradley, I'd stay away from a Provo rematch. Not that he couldn't win, but I assure you it wouldn't be easy. He'd take punishment again. He's better off just fighting Rios. He could potentially get his ass whupped in that fight, but at least Bradley-Rios would be a bigger money fight.
Based on last night, and based on how Guerrero beat up Berto, I'm not so sure I'd favor Bradley over Guerrero anymore. Let's face, Guerrero's got more pop than Bradley and he's a southpaw. For the those two reasons, he's a bigger threat to Floyd than Bradley is. I'll even go one more, based on the shots he took against Berto, Guerrero has a better chin than Bradley as well. For the life of me, I've NEVER seen how anybody considered Timmy a live opponent to test Floyd. Floyd would light Bradley up horribly.
I agree with that. Nikov could potentially do better in a rematch, put more pressure on, don't take any rounds off, work the body more etc. It would probably be another tough fight that could go either way.
Maybe...the early brutality was due to Bradley being stupid and trading. But in the mid and later rounds Bradley got tag with punches and hurt even when he was trying to stay away and box more...I think the Rusky punches too hard and has a hell of a chin...but he doesn't like it to the body.
Ohh please...Bradley look horrible yesterday could've been the RUSKY being tougher than expected or it could've been all the extra weight Bradley said he had to drop for this fight...Guerrero is not better than Bradley NOT EVEN CLOSE. Berto is and has always been SHIT...Guerrero surprised people in that fight by taking Berto's punch and by being stronger than Berto. Half the fight was clinches..after 4-5 rounds Guerrero is a sloppy clincher.
Exactly. The BODY was key! Honestly, had Provo invested in the body, I have little doubt Braddles would have been a goner. Provo head hunted ALL NIGHT and still nearly took him out. Had he softened him to the body more, and Timmy would have been more vulnerable up top. Depending on how Rios-Alvarado II goes down, I might pick Rios to take Braddles out. If Rios can cut off the ring, he won't stay off Bradley's chest and he won't let up. And it's doubtful Bradley's punches would do anything to deter Rios.
