I agree, sure in the 3rd round Hendricks was, as MSW said, wasting time with his td. But in the first 2, he was doing some dammage with them. Still, Hendricks limitation are quite obvious, but he does claim to have hurt his right hand in the 1st round so that may explain his ''poor'' performance after it. He does have a solid chance vs GSP but it will have to come early imo
the difference between hendricks and GSP's wrestling is that GSP sustains his top control and does his best to inflict damage. hendricks resorted to takedowns when he was losing the stand up game, but even when he had taken condit down, he did zero damage from top. still, i thought hendricks did enough to win the first two rounds, but it was kinda annoying to see him go for takedowns when condit was starting to bust him up with kicks.
I don't get the mayweather comparaison at all. I'm not Floyd fan but nowaday, he fights in the eye of the cyclone and stay in the pocket with his opponents, it's a very dangerous way to fight and got nothing to do with GSP way of fighting. GSP fights more like Wlad, overwhelmgly more talented than his opponents but sticking to his gameplan no matter what.
Hendricks is a little better than I gave him credit for but he couldn't do shit with Condit on the ground, it was one of those fights where the guy on bottom was actually landing more but you knew the judges don't give a shit what you do on the bottom and will never score a round for a guy who got taken down. I don't like this about MMA judging. great, so you got a take down, what were you able to do with it? It shouldn't mean anything unless you are able to do something with it. Not just fucking lay in a guys guard. That is not fighting, it's stalling. The GSP vs Diaz fight pretty much was as expected. GSP shoots for a TD within 10 seconds and lays on Diaz all night. I will give GSP credit for one thing, his top control is just ridiculous. People are saying Nick didn't try and all this crap, let's see anyone who says this get out from under GSP. He's got the best top control in MMA and it's not even close. Overall, the card was pretty damn boring.
Pretty Much How REED Saw it... Sure, Hendricks Should Be REWARDED for Taking Condit Down, But 1nce they were On the Ground, WHO Got the Better Of Things???...How DIFFICULT Was it for Condit to GET UP???... Those Factors Should Be Rewarded as Well.... REED:mj:
I watched this card live at a local bar mainly to see Hendricks vs Condit. I was hoping Hendricks would win, and thought he did, but it was a close fight with a close, deciding round. Hendricks matches up very well with GSP. He's a better wrestler and he hits harder. If Matt Serra can turn out your lights, Hendricks can knock out your fuse box. GSP has the stamina, leg kicks, mma wrestling...it should make for a very interesting fight. I like Diaz well enough, but he doesn't match up with Askren so I don't see him cleaning house in Bellator.
"in the fight" should be changed to "in the round". Whenever you score against this golden rule, you got some 'splaining to do, Lucy.
How is he not? It's like arguing that the Diaz brothers are better boxers than a US Olympian because they can outbox mma guys regularly.
Well no, I asked you how he is, so you explain how :: I think he's nowhere near as good. GSP can take anyone down, and when he takes you down, you're pretty much staying there. How easily did Condit get up against Hendricks compared to GSP? Plus GSP does way more damage when he pins you down. In MMA, GSP has significantly better wrestling than Hendricks.
They are going to fight. Hendricks will outwrestle GSP if it comes to that. Then you will have to fall back on how GSP is a better mma wrestler against other guys. Due to their different styles, that may be true.
I doubt it to be honest. GSP is a more refined wrestler with top notch TD defense, ridiculous explosive takedowns, and unmatched top control. Hendricks is a very good, brute force wrestler, but I'll be amazed if he outwrestles GSP.
Personally I am looking forward to the wrestling challenge between GSP and Hendricks. I'd give the nod to GSP. GSP is always an unstoppable takedown machine even against good wrestlers like Koscheck, Fitch and Hughes. And he is equally tough for good wrestlers to take down. Meanwhile Hendricks wrestling in the UFC has looked so-so against good wrestlers like Kos and Ellenberger. It will be a battle to be sure.
Exactly. Even against good wrestlers like Koscheck, GSP throws them around like scrubs. To me there is no comparison between their wrestling, GSP is much better.
GSP\Silva isn't really a superfight most fans are clamoring for. Besides, both champs still have business to take care of in their own weight class. I hate talk of fighters changing weight classes just to take a specific fight. If GSP moves up in weight because he can't make 170 anymore, then fine, lets talk about a fight. But moving up just for the sake of moving up doesn't really appeal to me. TFK
I honestly dont care about this fight. And i dont think GSP should have to move up in weight if he isnt comfortable. I rather see Jones vs. Silva, Jones vs. Cromier, Jones at Heavyweight one day.
Not really. You see it mentioned from time to time, but the people are hardly demanding it. I think people were more interested in a Fedor\Lesnar fight back in the day then a GSP\Silva fight today. And it doesn't compare to the demand some of the boxing superfights that were never made that overshadowed any other actual fight at the time, like Floyd\Pac or even Bowe\Lewis. I think most of the talk of a fight between the two started when it appeared both fighters cleaned out their division, but their divisions quickly found new contenders, so a fight between the two doesn't seem anywhere near as necessary as it did a year or so ago. TFK
Technically he is right. Hendricks is a far more accomplished wrestler than GSP. GSP has no real wrestling background.
