Best matchup in a long time

I expect Rigondeaux will start well and befuddle Nonito, but I don't have a lot of faith that he can keep it up for 12 rounds and protect his chin... I have a feeling he's getting stopped late

    DONAIRE KO10

    Fantastic fight.

Most of Cuban amateur stars have fought in a way which isn't suited for pros, they use distance and movement as their only defense and can't protect themselves when the ref isn't there to help (Jorge Luis Gonzalez as the prime example). Rigondeaux is different though, his style is that of the technique masters of 50s and 60s. He doesn't do any extra work in the ring, he slips just enough so that punches miss him by inches, he sees every punch, his accuracy is in the level of Salvador Sanchez.

Donaire doesn't quite have the skill set of Rigondeaux, but he is physically a phenom, his movement is so light, his explosiveness is awesome for a small guy. He can throw uppercuts with either hand, his combinations are brutal.

There are several ways how the fight could go. Rigondeaux, with eleven fights, is still bit untested. It could be that Donaire simply overpowers and crushes him quickly. Or, it could be a long tactical battle, as they both are at their best as counterpunchers. Then the battle between Donaire's explosiveness and Rigondeaux' skill will be interesting. It is difficult to see Donaire lose to anyone, yet Rigondeaux might have just what it takes to do it. If Rigondeaux finds his rhythm and starts landing his left, who knows.

I'd pick Donaire in 11, but it is very difficult to predict

REED's Going w/Rigondeaux by UD or even Possibly a LATE TKO...

Everybody Keeps Referencing Rigondeaux's Chin (Which IS Suspect), but How's Donaire's Whiskers Gonna Hold Up to THE Hardest, Most ACCURATE Puncher he's Ever Faced???...Donaire's Gotten Into a Habit of ALLOWING his Opponent to Land, so he Can COUNTER...That's a RISKY Proposition w/a Certified SHARPSHOOTER like Rigondeaux...

1 Thing REED DOESN'T Want to Hear Afterwards is How " _____ Got EXPOSED"...Fuck That:eek:hno:...BOTH of these Guys are THE GOODS...Or as Denny Green would Say, They're as Good as "we THOUGHT they Were!!!"....

ANY Outcome is Plausible...Early, 1-Sided KO for Either...Mid Rounds KO for Either...Epic War...Looooooong, Boring UD for Either...But the Most LIKELY Scenario is Rigondeaux UD 12...

Best fight for years. I hope Nonito gets the KO and it's certainly possible but my pick is Rigo by UD on the basis that he'll force Donaire to lead which doesn't suit him.

If Riggo had a reliable chin, I'd pick him, but he doesn't. That's basically what it comes down to. Riggo could be winning the fight, but once he gets tagged with something big, he'll either be down or hurt. And Donaire is too fast, and too good NOT to land at some point.

HOWEVER, I am interested to see how Donaire's OWN chin holds up when Riggo tags him. Cause if Riggo can hurt Donaire, THEN we have one helluva interesting fight that could go either way.

As it stands, I pick Donaire by either UD or late stoppage, but I'm rooting for Riggo. It's an AWESOME matchup though, and I can't watch.

This is the first fight in a long time where I am really not favoring either guy. I just can't make a pick here. It's a toss up.

I've thought a lot about that match up since it's the most compelling matchup in boxing since I can't remember when. I've come to the conclusion that the fighter with the more risky style is Donaire because, despite all his qualities, he's the more open fighter. I think Rigo will catch him with a shot he doesn't see coming and it will be good night for him.

I could be Donnybrooking and cover all bases, because litterally everything is possible in this fight as Ugo and REED said but I chose to make a definitive pick on this one.

    Rigo TKO 9

Duly Note that Donaire is ALOT BIGGER than Rigondeaux, just as REED Said he'd Be, MONTHS Ago...

Donaire by KO. Judging by other people's opinions, I'm probably underrating Gondo, but I think Donaire is too good and too powerful for him.

Nah, he just looks bigger. He comes in soft at 122 and hardly gains any weight post weigh in. Montiel outweighed him by 10lb.

Nonito wins by mid to late round KO. The early rounds will be competitive, but Nonito eventually catches Rigo and puts him to sleep

I think Donaire wins, but Riggo's odds are too good to turn down. I'll have a cheeky few notes on Riggo.

Riggo is 13/2 to win by KO/TKO and 10/3 by points. Great odds.

Honestly, no outcome would shock me in this one. Can see it being fight of the decade or a stinker, a blowout or domination for either guy, a tight decision or a draw... anything could happen.

I'm starting to think Rigo won't try to win and Donaire will win a decision.
