For what it's worth, I knew a boxer who used to spar with GSP, and he said that he had a pretty bad chin, that eahc time he connected solidly, GSP was doing the dance

 

So GSP has 1 KO loss in 26 fights, it was a stoppage due to strikes not a knock out, and he was hit with at least a dozen punches, a couple of them to the head, and that means he has a suspect chin?

I guess that means Serra has brutal KO power too. I mean, he knocked out a guy who's never been stopped before or after.

I think the drastic change in GSP's style after the Serra fight is pretty clear evidence that he knows his chin is questionable.

The thing I find odd is how fragile GSP's heart is for a champion of his caliber. He tapped to strikes against Serra. He wanted to quit on his stool against Shields. There were even a couple of times in the relatively easy fight with Diaz where GSP looked like he was on the verge of mentally collapsing.

He is so good that he rarely gets put in uncomfortable positions, but I have no doubt that he would roll over if he was ever in a difficult, blood and guts type fight.

 

GSP clearly has a suspect chin, and just like wald pussy, he knows it, and protects it at all costs.

You can see he is a bit bothered/hurt every time something lands on his chin, he recovered quick from the Condit kick, so what, doesn't mean his chin is good.

 

That's just It...

Please. Every time it got close to being a blood and guts type of battle, GSP took Condit down and held him there.

Don't get me wrong. It's impressive as hell that GSP can dictate where every minute of his fights take place, but make no mistake, he uses his wrestling to protect a delicate chin and a fragile heart.

pretty sure Diaz took 2 of those kicks in the first round and didn't budge.

The difference is that Diaz fights the same way whether he's fighting a monster puncher like Guillard or a lighter puncher like Jim Miller.

When GSP fought a dangerous puncher like Dan Hardy, he basically crawled for a takedown as soon as the bell rung.


Again, the dude has used strategy AND skill to become one of the top P4P guys in the sport so I don't fault him for being boring. But make no mistake, he was NEVER boring until Serra cracked that chin.


Before Serra, GSP had 11 diminishes. Since Serra, he's had 2 (Penn's corner stopped their fight).

Maybe it's not because he has a questionable chin, but that seems to be the thought of other fighters and many fans. Maybe we're all wrong.
