Ponce was still throwing back and had his eyes on Mares. I like to err on the side of caution, but I don't like that at all in this kind of fight.

Ditto. I'm not usually one to shout "early stoppage", but this was stupidly early. Plenty of fighters have come back from being way more out of it than Ponce was.

Richard Schaefer just came over to ringside and said he's going to work on putting together a Mares-Leo Santa Cruz fight.

 

Not sure if it should have been stopped by I saw that coming a mile away. That right hand haymaker was landing way too often early in the fight it was only a matter of time it seemed before he placed it right.
