:: I think "Bittersweet Symphony" would be more apt. Wlad's performance last night was around 6.5 or 7 out of 10. His movement, not just for such a giant, at a career heavy nigh-on 18 stone, is outstanding. The fucker would shame Nureyev and Astaire. His accuracy and hand-speed, from which is power is really derived, {at least in the right hand} are spot on. He still wants to wear guys out by leaning on their neck, and he is too easy to sucker into clinches. I bet it cost fuck all to watch Klitschko last night. I think ESPN is available in the UK and Ireland for 20 quid a month. No pay per view nonsense. You got a game limited guy who threw punches and got badly fucked up by some very quality shots. On the other hand, you could pay $70 to watch Floyd trip the light fantastic with Pacifico {I refuse to allow the letters GUERR constitute any part of such a pacifists name} for the full distance, and get glowing reviews from Dan Rafael. Ironically, when Wlad turns in those sort of punch-perfect performances, versus Chagaev and Ibragimov {guys who were light years more talented than Pacifico} he gets told off. When he sends a guy to the accident and emergency ward, he gets told off. I thought people wanted to see a guy being broken up, no? :dunno:
Wlad wasn't holding too much this time out, in fact Pianeta held much more. Still, Wlad was way too cautious against a guy who wasn't dangerous at all
That's his modus now. You can see why ESPN brought in guys like Haye "Oh....all he does is fight safety first".....because if I was trying to embarrass a guy out of his routine, that's exactly who I would use, a guy who already lost to Wlad, by refusing to try to get Wlad out of his routine :: I think Wlad should have opened up on Pianeta for 3 full rounds, then if the guy was still standing, coast for a couple rounds, then try again for the KO.
I thought Wlad put in a solid shift last night. He was slightly more aggressive than previous fights. Props also to Pianeta, limited but lots of effort.
I agree. Had Wlad always fought like this, people wouldn't have a problem with him. However after all his dreary fights people are critical with him, understandably so. Wlad's performance wasn't that bad now, Pianeta was just totally useless on this level
Agreed, he was completely useless on that level, because Wlad made him look that way, as Floyd did Roberto Pacifico, as all quality fighters do when they are on their game. I am big enough to admit that there are some pretty annoying loopholes in Wlad's game........a lot of them which he learned from Manny Steward, but he still took care of business. 3 knockdowns, total domination, for £20 a month I would be happy and so should anyone else. The other thing is this....the guy was basically tuning up for Povetkin, which promises to be a really hard slog. Wlad has a good fight lined up. Does Khan? Mayweather? Wlad is doing OK.
IMO he gets more than his fair share. I enjoyed the fight, when Wlad lets them go the man can punch and punch hard. Pianeta was OK, at least he gave it a proper go. That cannot be said about Momeck, Thompson, Haye, Peter ..
Wald did what he had to last night against a very, very limited opponent. I didn't criticise his performance here or anywhere else; he stopped with ease a guy he should stop with ease. I'm not buying your interpretation of the Ibragimov fight, though; that was an absolute abomination of a fight which caused irreparable damage to the sport of boxing. MTF
who knew a wald pussy topic could evoke such a booming response. didnt realize there were so many wald pussy enthusiasts here. threads such as this are useful to separate the moist men (irish) from the chosen.
He will be around for a few years yet. Best ring Nat Fleischer and get organizing some sort of a trawl.
Ibragimov was Wlad's win tonight/look good next time fight. Except that strategy doesn't work so well when HBO was counting on more and decided to ban your fights, haha.
Tyson, Bowe, Holmes, Holyfield, Liston, Ali, Frazier, Marciano... A whole lot of guys who bring exactly zero evidence that they could have started at any position in D1 college football or basketball. But the US loves excuses when its superiority isn't apparent.
Ah yes, the guys who think Eddie Chambers is good are in the right here. It's not about football, it's about fewer kids boxing. Fewer boxing gyms, less exposure.... kids just aren't boxing like the used to. That's reality.
Gyms in the UK are thriving at the minute. Packed out daily. Kids love their boxing and there's talent emerging.
That's great news. I bet it's huge like that in the Phillipines and China right now, too. It's not like that in America though. It used to be.
