Actually I just read a complete article about self defense and I don't have a clue about it anymore. So if someone attacks you with fists you can shoot him IF it's the only way to save yourself. If someone hits u in the face and runs away you can't do shit cuz it wouldn't be self defense anymore. Don't get me wrong, the other guy definitively wasn't a victim. But Lockridge should have been the bigger man imo, and at first, push him off when he was in his face, then punch if he came back.

 

He was a victim. When he wakes up he will probably go WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH because, somewhere deep down inside, Rocky still is hitting him.

 

I doubt there is a county in the usa where Lockridge wouldn't be charged if the other guy pressed for charges. I would guess the majority of counties would charge Lockridge even if the other guy didn't press.

Self defense needs to be reasonable. That wasn't. That especially wasn't when you consider that District Attorneys are elected officials and tend to err on the side of what i politically safer and that is charging Lockridge when there is a video that is so damning.

The only reason this goes to trial is because Lockridge thinks he'll get someone like Reed on his jury. That's a big risk when the offer is 60 days and a misdemeanor and you are looking at 2+ years if you lose at trial + a felony.

 

If you read wiki, the simplest, most common rule is that the force used needs to be 'reasonable.' If Rocky knew this guy beat the shit out of people all the time, his response might be reasonable, but if he didn't know this guy at all, his response seems clearly excessive to me.
