Here is a funny quote from Floyd...Considering he's doing the very thing he said he doesn't do by trying to get Canelo down to 147.

Interesting....So what about Canelo is different from those other guys?

    He's a real 154lber.

It seems that no matter who mayweather fights next he loses in most peoples eyes on this forum, so why keep arguing about it?

    Pacquiao fought Cotto at 145.

Cotto definitely isn't. He looks downright undersized at 154, and basically looked the same size as Floyd when they fought.

Oscar isn't really a 154 pounder either, just a big welter.

Gotta admit, I'm amazed Alvarez weighs as much as he does, he jsut doesn't look big. Have you seen pics of him next to Oscar and other fighters? He looks less than 5'8 and not THAT thick and bulky either, I just don't understand how he weighs in as a fucking super middle. Trout looked clearly bigger too.

Oscar was definitely a proper 154lber in 2007.

Wow you're right, I forget he had that many fights at 154, he has been at 154 for half a decade when he fought Floyd. For some reason I always think in my mind that Oscar is a career welterweight.

So yeah, Floyd has already beaten a bigger, better fighter than Alvarez. He should just fight at him at 154, he'd still control him easily.

Agreed. I'm not interested in Floyd/Canelo anywhere but 154.

Quick side note... Pacquiao/De La is the one time Pac doesn't get any blame for fighting a drained fighter. Oscar called the shots at the time. He was looking for a win against the way smaller Pacquiao.

My most favorite delahoya fight as far as rewatchability quotient is concerned

Called the shots and surprisingly (to me) was abolished. Kinda reminded me of when the bears ended the career of a certain opiate addicted hillbilly

Yeah, it was shocking at the time. Oscar was a shell, but Pacquiao was brilliant.

Floyd is basically a featherweight.. if you look at his bone structure etc..

Pac was also a small guy but with all the steroids and growth hormones he is much bigger now.. he is like a middleweight

canelo is a straight up middleweight

Alvarez is VERY Thickly Built, Bro...He's a BIGGER, TALLER Version of the Cotto Bodytype...MASSIVE Legs (for a Jr. Middle), THICK & WIDE Torso, BROAD Shoulders...Canelo ISN'T Tall, but he Damn Sure AIN'T Small Either...

Trout's a HUGE Jr. Middle, for What it's Worth...

He's obviously thicker built than he looks, because to me he barely looked bigger than Matthew Hatton. Maybe he has huge thighs in the Tyson/Tua mould or something.

I know he looks built-ish, but more the Cotto type as you said, he's not exactly Hagler in the physique department.

I agree about Trout though, he looks like a middleweight to me.

Sure they fought at 154 at the end of thier careers. Canelo started his career at 154 and he's in his early 20's.

Canelo? No, it wasn't that long ago he was fighting Matthew Hatton at welterweight. I was surprised when he moved up to 154.

*Z* WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

He fought Hatton at 154, not welterweight. He had some welterweight fights, but it's been 3-4 years since he fought there. He's still just a kid.

He didn't start his career at 154 though did he? In fact he must have spent at least half his career thus far at 147.

No, I thought he did but he started at 147. Moved up when he fought Jose Cotto 3 years ago. Either way, the guy is 22 and is already weighing 170 on fight night.

De La Hoya couldn't make 147 anymore. Not sure about Cotto. Canelo is probably going to settle at 160 or 168 for the duration of his career.

We need to go back to same day weigh-ins to avoid the sort of inane discussions about who is or isn't a "real" JM when they weigh in as light heavies on fight night.

Yeah Alvarez outgrew welterweight when he was 19. No way he makes it healthily, now

All this drying out, weighing in the day before and rehydrating has made a mockery of the concept of weightclasses... It disgusts me
