Disagree completely. Marquez is a terrific mechanic, excellent counterpuncher but there have been quite a lot of guys between 126-140 that I'd pick over him without hesitation head to head... Not that Mayweather is unbeatable (nobody is), but the list would be a hell of a lot smaller, in my opinion. Not too many 130-140 pounders all-time I'd make favorites over him in a match. At welterweight, there's a lot more and double that for Marquez.

No, because if Paz had then gone on to KO Calzaghe with one punch, that would change things.

Less so if Calzaghe had been a tiny guy at the weight Paz had already gone tooth and nail with 4 divisions below. Less so again if Paz had been small & fat against Jones then built likea shit house against Calzaghe.

Marquez KO'ed a FELLOW FORMER FEATHERWEIGHT w/1 Punch...If Paz had Gone On to Do LIKEWISE (by KO'ing a Former LIGHTWEIGHT), it'd B the Same...Calzaghe DOESN'T Fit the Analogy...

Gosh damn. Pacquiao is just a little guy who basically sucked. He had moved up in weight. Why did anyone even give a shit about him fighting Floyd? It's not like he had a chance.

The only reason the analogy isn't better is because Calzaghe wasn't considered Roy's equal when Roy whipped Paz, not because of Pacquiao's flaws. Pacquiao was in everyone's top 3 p4p when Marquez starched him and in many's #1 spot.

As far as Marquez being built differently when he fought Pacquiao, sure he was juiced like a Florida orchard against Pacquiao and didn't appear to be vs Floyd, but so many around here think steroids don't help a boxer, does it really matter? Anyway, for purposes of the analogy, let's assume that Paz got all muscular when he ko'd Calzaghe with one punch after losing to Roy.

    Yeah, I know.

Roids or not Pacquiao would have been KO'd by that same punch he walked(ran) directly into.

exactly. He got caught with one of the best, most perfectly times punches i have ever seen. I think Mayweather or Marquez would have been knocked out by that punch too.

Marquez is the best fighter of the past 25 years. Pazienza is probably the illegitimate father of a jersey shore participant

Exactly. If a middleweight with a decent punch hit Marvin Hagler the same way he would have at least hit the canvas.

Like I said, so many around here don't think PEDs help a fighter.

Imo, that's like arguing that weight classes and stamina don't matter, but whatever.

are there that many people here who think PEDs don't help a fighter?
