I just laugh at how excited everyone there is to see Froch get beat again. Both these guys would get beat worse by ward as they have both declined severely.
is froch a future hall of famer? beat pascal, taylor, kessler, abraham, johnson, and bute. not so far off from calzaghe's resume.
Agreed. He is 36, has taken the hard fights that Ward would not take, and has paid the price as stylistically he cannot make the fights easy on himself. He's already pushing 36 and has too much wear and tear on him. Ward will of course get fucked up/busted/fail a test down the line but it won't involve Carl Froch.
these guys are probably #2 and 3 at the weight? Agreed with Hut, I hope Kessler packs it in. Nothing else to prove or achieve
froch would've beaten everyone that calzaghe has beaten minus the early 40 some year old version of hopkins.
Froch is a greater fighter than Calzaghe and by quite a margin too. Calzaghe may have been the better one (very debatable) but he fought stiffs for far to long
let's not go overboard here. calzaghe took a younger, fresher version of kessler and took him to school in a much easier fashion.
My point is now what? Froch goes on to get his ass kicked by ward? Because the rematch will not even be close. Froch's speed has diminished extremely and kessler needs to retire. The fact that the #3 guy in the division needs to retire should tell us something.
Yup, The problem is that Froch has a CV full of Kesslers. Joe not so much and that seems to sway peoples opinion
i dont. it took chad dawson to beat a near 50 year old version of hopkins convincingly but without really doing much damage.
no, the kessler-calzaghe was about as close as this one, probably even closer. By the middle rounds, Kessler seemed like he was on the way to win, while he was never in that position in that fight. Also, younger and fresher means less experienced and less poised, I don't think the kessler of the joe fight was better than this one
Unless I missed it, I don't see anyone here clamoring for a Ward rematch, so I'm not really sure where you're going with this
My ass. I've never seen a guy who was more made for Calzaghe. Froch actually pirouetted in the 12th with a miss. There is the other factor too, Froch likes to impose himself. He would not be able to do that with Calzaghe, Joe would bully him.
