I agree, except for the home town advantage, which should go to the champion. But like Ward said, the money has to be right. And if Ward chooses to, he will.
Its all about the $$. If Andre wants to get paid he really needs to fight over here but chances are he has some silly notion of getting robbed in the UK
Well im sure there is more to it than being robbed. It's a pain in the ass to Travel so far. And like i said, Ward is the champ with a win over Froch. Not just a win, but a clear, decisive one. Ward already said that if the money is right he will make the journey tho.
Bad scoring somewhere other than the US is to be blamed on the country the scoring takes place in. New to boxing forums?
Ward is a very smart, articulate guy and potentially a great ambassador for the sport. I believe he's smart enough to travel while still in his prime. He probably looks at things the same way Roy did, but he's also got the benefit of seeing how much better Roy would be perceived had he traveled. The way Ward responded to Froch's comments at the end of the telecast was superb. One thing that Froch did extremely well in the Kessler rematch is finish rounds strong. Several times I had Kessler ahead after 2 minutes and the Froch would win the last minute clearly. The judges were giving him those rounds even if they might have been Kessler's in an objective, detached card. But, it is arguably correct to put more weight on the end of the round than the beginning. Kessler should get his rubber match, preferably in a neutral venue, but somewhere. I think Froch was pretty clear that he'd prefer a 3rd Kessler fight than a 2nd Ward fight, at least right now.
The Notion that Ward ISN'T Marketable is a Bit OFFBASE...He Packs 10,000 a Fight, in Oakland...Considering the DECISIVE Nature of their 1st Bout, Ward DOESN'T Owe Froch Shit.... REED:hammert:
And the fight wasnt even close. But Froch sure doesnt look like he wants no part of Ward. And i dont blame. After the fight i just saw, Ward would toy with Froch worse than before.
He's vial. He got bargaining. He got Victor. Who Carl Froch got? Ironically, he would slap Froch silly and look good doing it, but the sheer EFFORT of getting on an airplane and being FORCED to come to ENGLAND when HE DA CHAMP would probably be too fucking much for him and his promotional/elite performance/elite/elite/elite/chemists etc. So no, a guy who couldn't attract SS men to a concentration camp will now turn down the opportunity to fight abroad in front of a massed crowd and earn a very very substantial payday. If Froch vs Ward was organized correctly, it could be a Stadium Fight next Summer, one year from now, both men take a couple gimmes between now and then.
I'm with you on this one. I'd like to see Ward fight Froch in England for sporting reasons. But Ward gets paid no matter what now that HBO is in on it.
All the other guys in the super 6 traveled - Ward had every fight at home (and arguably benefited from some generous officiating vs Kessler). Ward also had the easiest path during super 6 with Dirrel and Taylor both dropping out of fights with Ward who got soft touch subs. And since then Froch has beaten Bute and Kessler, too. He doesn't 'owe' Froch anything but it'd shut the last of Ward's detractors up if he made the trip by proving none of those advantages mattered.
MYTH...Ward-Kessler was a 1-Sided Fight, Bro... If REED isn't Mistaken, the Locations of the Super 6 Bouts were PREDETERMINED, w/Everyone Having Full Knowledge of WHO was Fighting WHERE...Nobody Complained about Ward having Toooo Many Oakland Fights @ the Time... REED Wouldn't Mind Seeing Ward-Froch II In Europe, but it SHOULDN'T Be Forced Upon Ward, if he Doesn't Fancy the Idea... REED:hammert:
