unless canelo takes a page of cotto and improves it, this will be a one sided affair.

Orsum. Don't have a problem with the weight. Like with Pacquiao, a think a slight equaliser is fair enough when fighting a bigger foe.

Plus I'll never believe Alvarez isn't a small 154 pounder, and he's young. I think he's just a bit lazy and eats a lot, and is possibly not great at cutting weight. He should make 152 easily.

Yep, easily. Canelo is too patient, and just not good enough. He doesn't have the workrate and the gusto to really have much success against Floyd. Or the range, or the jab, or the speed

Yeah, I don't think Canelo has the gastank to really put it on Floyd consistently.

yeah the weight is fair enough...and Floyd probably has something in the contract that Canelo can't weigh more than 165 on fight night....

I hope he doesn't get stupid and think he can outbox Floyd...or wait for that one perfect uppercut to land...it won't happen. He is the bigger fighter he needs to fight like it...attack..attack...attack...

I'd rather see it at 154, but yeah, this is better than no fight.

if that were stipulated then i dont think mayweather jr give a fuck about what the guy weighs in at below 154. in ring weight is what counts and where alvarez will prove to be much bigger/heavier

Same. Mayweather will pot shot him and when Canelo wants to throw leather Floyd won't be in his radar.

Floyd time is up, he's had a great career (it should have been greater but that's for another day) but you can't go on indefinitively in this sport. Very few fighter can be as effective in their late 30 and 40's like Hopkins is. I expect Canelo to win this

Floyd looked as sharp as ever against Guerrero, and bizarrely, faster than he has done recently.

Canelo has nothing on Floyd apart from weight. He doesn't have have a range advantage. Floyd will win easily.

Guerrero is garbage, small garbage to be more precise. Floyd didn't looked to hot vs Cotto and Canelo is better than that version of Cotto

Alvarez has a much better chance than Guerrero. He told iole he's as fast as mayweather jr. If he believes that then he's lost already tho

Mayweather jr fought like shit against cotto. Part of that was due to cottos size and skill and part was mayweather jr moving less with an eye toward the future.

I critisized Floyd many time for his cherrypicking in the last few years but I have to give him credit on this one. Sure it's also the biggest money fight he could made, and I'm not too keen on the catchweight (especially after he blasted Pac for it) but overall, it's the fight the fans wanted the most

The weight is bullshit, dunno how you guys are giving him a pass on this.. Even if it doesn't affect Canelo (and I can't see how we could know that) it's a 154 lb fight. Fight at the weight of the division instead of trying to weaken your opponent. Very disappointing imo

    The catch weight is sum
Fuck boy shit. Beat Alvarez at his best weight rather than leveraging a Lower number. Nonetheless Alvarez will be at least 15 lbs heavier fight time, 13+ years younger and coming off his best career win. As is often the case with the guys mayweather jr faces

You motherfuckers kill me. Ya'll blast PBF for not making big fights. Now when he does make a big fight ya'll are complaining cause he is making Alverez lose 2lbs. Fuck that if I was PBF I would have made him come in at 150lbs and put a limit of the amount of weight he can gain. I remember when Gatti got blasted for all the weight he added vs Joey Gamache. Anytime a dude adds fucking 16lbs of weight after the weigh in he don't need to be fighting at that weight. Not to mention PBF technically has never even fought at 154lbs. Not gonna make any excuses for the Cotto fight but couldn't PBF having to serve time have something to do with his non spectacular performance. I'll Holla 5000

I wouldn't say easy but I do expect a decisive victory. This is a real money making opportunity on mayweather jr via dec

Only thing that worries me more than the size of Alvarez is the gb upside on him and the robbery risk

I just don't see it as a big deal. I see it as a small equaliser when fighting a bigger opponent. Obviously if he was asking Canelo to come down to welter, that wouldn't be on, but asking him to shed another couple of pounds is fair enough.

In this instance though, honestly I think it's kind of pointless. It's 2 pounds for a guy who can surely make 154 with ease.

2 pounds aside I did hear a few folks here claiming this wouldn't happen based on how mayweather jr "ducked" that top rank pinoy. Does this lend any credence to promotional differences squashing that potential bout in those folks eyes?
