</header> [IMG]WINNIPEG – The title fight between UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones (18-1 MMA, 12-1 UFC) and Alexander Gustafsson (15-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) will headline UFC 165 in Toronto.

UFC President Dana White today confirmed the plans at UFC 161's open workouts in Winnipeg.

Earlier today, as MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) White tweeted that the fight likely would take place in the fall, though he initially didn't get mention an event.

UFC 165 is slated for Sept. 21 at Toronto's Air Canada Centre. The main card, which will feature Jones vs. Gustafsson in the headliner, airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.

Jones is ranked No. 1 and Gustafsson No. 6 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie.com MMA light-heavyweight rankings.

After winning the title from Mauricio Rua at UFC 128, Jones has successfully defended the belt against Quinton Jackson, Lyoto Machida, Rashad Evans and Vitor Belfort before making quick work of Chael Sonnen, who was stopped with elbows and punches in the first round of their April fight. Since a disqualification loss to Matt Hamill in 2009, Jones has won nine straight fights with eight stoppages. Only Evans went the distance.

Gustafsson, meanwhile, is on a six-fight win streak since his lone career loss, which came to now-teammate Phil Davis in 2010. He claimed No. 1 contender's status with recent decision victories over Thiago Silva and ex-champ Rua. Gustafsson was slated to fight Gegard Mousasi in April's UFC on FUEL TV 9 headliner but wasn't medically cleared due to facial a cut. The Jones title fight would be the Swede's first bout of 2013.

Excellent match up. Over the last few months Gustafsson has been the best of the rest. I'd still like to see Hendo get a shot just to see how Jones deals with his style.

    Hendo has to win first.

He will beat Evans but he's running low on gas. It's a shame the Jones fight didn't happen a few months ago.

Man i dont know if he beats Evans. I think Evans might take it. Remember, Evans is fighting for his career. A loss could mean a cut.

It's pretty hard to imagine him getting cut. It's only just over a year ago he beat the undefeated, hyped Phil Davis.

Hard to imagine Jones losing to a guy who got choked out by Phil Davis. I think Jones destroys this guy, I'm going to say he gets take down, pounded a bit then arm triangled.....in the first round.

I like Gustafsson and I think he's very good...perhaps as good as Machida. I'm not remembering his loss to Davis, though. It must have been before I was impressed with Gust.

I tried to find a video but couldn't. He tapped Gus in the first round with an anaconda choke.

Gustafsson has shit wrestling. It's no coincidence that he hasn't face even a good wrestler since Davis manhandled him.

jones should win this easily. funny how ufc works. gustafsson gets a cut, doesn't fight mousasi, but is eventually rewarded w/ a title shot.

I think Gustafsson is pretty awful. Is he the kind of ankward guy that knows how to win ugly?? Guess will find out soo enough.

Jones is will have no problem with Goofstaffson. He will easily take him down and pound him out.

    Translation: I can't beat Jones.

I am not big on Mousasi at all. I heard big things about him and then watched him get his ass handed to him by Mo Lawal who wasn't so great, despite his PEDage.

Then I saw how shitty Kyacey Uscola was TUF and watched his fight against Mousasi and Uscola almost beat him.

I respect records, particularly in mma, because I think they tend to mean quite a bit about how good someone is. Mousasi has a good record so maybe I'm wrong, but from what I've seen of him, I think he sucks.
