    At heavyweight.

Roy coming off his first round KO of Griffen.

Holyfield coming off the rematch win with Moorer.

    Who wins and why?

As FUNNY as Qwerty's Qwotes are, that Gem is ACCURATE in the Case of Roy vs. Holyfield...Roy Would have to RUN for Dear Life to Hear the Final Bell & Even THEN, it's Not Guaranteed he Would...

Holyfield Lacked Roy's SPEED & ATHLETICISM, but he Held Every Single Other TANGIBLE Advantage...Not to Mention, he's NOT Completely Devoid of Speed/Athleticism Himself...Roy's Punch Resistance WASN'T as Bad as it Looked Since the RE w/Tarver, but the FACT is, it Wouldn't Take Many Well Place Shots from Holyfield, to Get Roy the Fuck OUT of There...

Now if Roy had Fought Holyfield, After his Win Over Ruiz (Early 2000's), he'd have STOPPED That Version of Holyfield...As it was, they were Scheduled to Fight, Holyfield Pulled Out & Got STOPPED by James Toney Instead...

Holyfield obviously destroys him. Even P4P Holyfield was a better fighter, and in the hypothetical situation Holyfield is much, much bigger.

Yeah, think I agree. Made this MM with memories of the Jones/Griffen interview on the mind. Roy said he wanted it.

Roy would have to be perfect. Can't see it. Holyfield would also be the 'star' here, so a favorable ref is probably also out of the question.

And agree Holyfield has no chance in 2003.

Good bigger one beats a good smaller one, for me. Holyfield would find him, eventually, and hurt him.

What's everyone's pick at 190lb? I still gotta go with Holy but it'd be interesting.

I mean a young cruiser Holy btw, not a 98 version cutting to 190

I'd go with Holy too at 190. Holyfield isn't better P4P, but he is still amazing. Big fucking cruiser too. He'd eventually run Roy out of the ring.

Have to go with Vander but it would be interesting to see the approach he would take against Jones.

I think I give Roy a better shot at heavy in the late 90s than I do against the young, violent cruiserweight Holyfield.

Older, slower Holy would be easier to run and potshot against.

CW Holy was one of the best, if not the best, Cruiser there has been. No blown-up super-middle is beating him.

Holyfield improved quite allot technically after leaving cruiserweight i think in my mind. I might pick Jones over him at 190 afterall.

Anybody know when he started working with Benton out of curiosity?

REED's Guess would Be RIGHT AFTER the Olympics, as Top Rank Signed Pretty Much ALL of the Relevant '84 U.S. Olympians...

Hmmm, interesting. His positioning definitely became more 'Benton like' as he moved to heavyweight from the Thomas fight on. He was right down the middle up until Tills.

Have to go with Holy, I just can't see Roy keeping him off for the full route

Cruiser Holy vs Jones is a great matchup, Roy may have a better chance there, but I still lean toward Holy there as well

  19. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

pretty sure the duvas signed holyfield and all the main 84 olympians not top rank

Yeah you're right, I assumed thats what REED meant.

the Benton influence definitely becomes much more obvious as the years go on tho

I'm pretty sure Holyfield's last fight with Benton was the first Bowe fight. He was working with Steward for the rematch.

This. I think Holy wins at either weight, but Jones' chances are better against the older and slower Holy.
