I'm sure this has been done previously, but am interested to hear people's opinion on this fight. If I'm right, and Forrest is the pick here, it certainly puts in perspective PBF's reign. While we're at it, how do people think Pacquiao would've done against Forrest? At 147?
Stylewise Forrest would provide big problems for both. The most simplistic thing other than the height would be his jab against Floyd and the straight right against Manny. However Pac and Mayweather are very dynamic whereas Vernon is so basic. I just don't think the jab, right hand and clinch would cut it against either.
According to Mayweather's Twitter he's wanted to fight Vernon for years but he never returns his phone calls.
I wouldn't call Forrest is basic. He had a great uppercut, could fight inside, and didn't forget the body either.I think he would've been trouble for both Pacquiao and PBF.
Slightly favor of PAC...but not very sure of it Floyd picks him apart and makes him look like a 25cent drunken hooker
I still think speed would be a major advantage for Floyd...he would still potshot Forrest enough to win a close decision....115-112 Manny had good movement...much better then Forrest...he would keep the fight all over the ring...darting in and out and IMO tagging and hurting Forrest plenty....Manny by even wider decision and sprinkle in a knockdown try and erase Manny has his last couple of bouts....you can see that he was not the same fighter....a tad slower, a tad more flat footed,..not the same guy that fought quality fighters bout after bout
Forrest timed Mosley back when Mosley still had some speed, and Manny has difficulties with a good right hand. Not sure I'd pick Pac over Forrest. Floyd would win a decision, but it'd be close. Forrest was a boring, ugly fighter but he could crack & was a difficult night for any welter.
He's a difficult fight for ANYONE. Anyone with his patience, range, skill, jab is going to be tricky. But despite that I can't really see him beating either of them. He was an excellent fighter, very solid, but a bit too methodical to have a good chance of beating fighters as special as Pacquiao and Mayweather. He got a bit overrated from beating Shane, who he just matched up with brilliantly. I think they'd both have to really work for the win, but ultimately win clear decisions.
Agreed with the consensus that Forrest is a horrible match up for both. I could see him winning against each of them but I think Floyd and Manny just have that extra level or gear they can go to which would be beyond Vernon. I think stylistically Manny would match up slightly better than Floyd, although the lack of height might take that away. Forrest had issues with Mayorga's unpredictability, Pacquio is a different level. Mayweathers more orthodox approach would be better suited for Vernon to face.
Agreed. He lost to Mayorga ffs. Twice. His best win is against a guy who he had the perfect style to beat. Other than that, there's really nothing to suggest he'd beat Manny or Floyd. They are both simply much better fighters, even though as I said, his range and style is going to give almost any WW a difficult fight.
He beat Mayorga the second time I don't give a guy 10-9 rounds for gesturing and taunting while missing with wild haymakers
Mayweather wins a close decision against Forrest in a chess match type of fight. Forrest beats Pacqiuao via wide UD or he stops him early. His height and reach, good use of the jab, right hand, and right uppercut are PERFECT weapons against a squat target like Manny who doesn't offer much head movement to begin with. Its just a horrible style for Pacquiao.
I have little doubt that the Forrest of the first Mosley fight would outbox Floyd, and would knock the shit outta Manny.
Shane used to be my 2nd favourite fighter after Morales, but I completely disagree. He's a bit too basic, he never would have beaten either of them.
