Yep. I'm not very invested in this discussion as the other guys are, but I'd enjoy being a fly on the wall.

You cannot make up shit with other sports quite as easy as you can with boxing.

"Joe calzaghe will go into a shell against Roy. Because I said so"- Boxing.

"They are soft in Europe"- Boxing.

"Lacy Will Knock Joe Out. Joe Just Won? They are BOTH Bums"- Boxing.

Please don't stop. It's 100 degrees today and I'm hosting a barbecue against my will. I'd much rather hear you rail as you are today. Happy 4th buddy...(Lacy was always hot garbage).

would be nice to pull up that prediction thread and actually would be interesting to see how predictions changed after Jones' forearm to Calzaghe's face in the first round

if Mexican Wedding Singer is around......i was thinking and I think I might have picked Kessler to beat Calzaghe after all

Knowing Jones was shot is not some after-the-fact bullshit. It was clear.

Lets say Lacy was shit....let's just suppose he never had any fucking chance of doing a damn thing with any good fighter, ever......just tell me this much: why wasn't this forum, in all its prescient brilliance, onto it in advance??

In addition, having made such a gargantuan mistake, why do they consider their opinion so infallible now, due regard being had for how badly they got it wrong in the past.

"We got Lacy-Calzaghe wrong. Weapons-of-Mass-Destruction-Wrong"- Boxing.

Was it as clear as how bad Lacy was? Or even more clear? Like perspex clear or diamond, brilliantine clear? Vaseline smeared on a windowpane clear? Or "Clear" as in "YOu are Not Pregnant" or "You do not have AIDS" Clear? That clear?

I don't know man, wasn't here to enjoy the prognostications. In my opinion, Joe was brilliant against Lacy. It both should not be held against him or catapult him egregiously either.

Quite. Apart from Wladimir Klitschkos wins over Haye Chagaev and Ibragimov, Lacy-Calzaghe remains one of the few fights where one man dominated and came out of it almost as bad as the guy he dominated. It's like 'Muricans watching Alexander the Great rolling over the globe and saying shit like "Darius? Darius who? India? Elephants?? Elephants are overrated, Persia is shot"

 at this thread. About the only thing certain to get a lively thread going round here is a Calzaghe thread. And this one isn't even really about Calzaghe. at DC trying to argue with the Celtic alliance about Calzaghe. A complete waste of time.

Calzaghe has no chance of beating a prime RJJ. It may be, with hindsight, that Roy had a dodgy chin but that is speculation rather than fact and even accepting that speculation as fact even I accept that Calzaghe did not have the punch to take advantage. Joe would win a few rounds on workrate but he'd lose 8-4 at best and could conceivably be stopped late if he was too brave.

I agree with MWS and others; the 'Euro' with the best shot of beating a prime Jones is (a pre-Watson II) Eubanks. He hit much harder than given credit for, had a granite chin, an iron will and was tricky/awkward enough to have a realistic chance. Having said that, my reading of the recent SKY doc was that whilst RJJ thought the same thing Eubanks himself didn't rate his chances at all, which is odd for such a naturally arrogant guy.

As for the rest, Ottke would die, Michaelshitski and Jirov would lose wide decisions every time, the Benn of the McClellan fight might land something big and fight-changing but much more likely is stopped in eight and Collins would take an absolute shellacking and is either stopped late or survives to hear the final bell but requires major surgery afterwards.

Eubend has gone soft in his old age. He probably is trying to set an example for that degenerate son his, late in the day.

The biggest European threat to a prime Roy Jones is probably Spanish Flu.
