Ward would win by a commanding margin. I believe Ward's the P4P #1, even though I'm hardly a fan. I'd be rooting like HELL for GGG to clock him, but I doubt it would happen. Depending on what happens in August, it's POSSIBLE that Kovolev is the biggest threat to Ward, but we'll see.
Do you feel like Ward is jealous of the hype GGG is getting ? It feels to me like that's the case based on hearing some interviews recently.
Ward's probably content with himself right now. He has to know that he'll never be a "star". He doesn't the talent, and charisma that Floyd has, and Roy had, that made them house hold names. And doesn't have the killer style of a Pac, or Tyson. Hell, Adrien Broner's ALREADY a bigger "star" than Ward, and at the moment Broner is nowhere near as good. What he is just a VERY VERY good fighter, with a VERY VERY effective, yet boring style. If GGG and Ward were the same size, I'd give GGG a better chance. Ward's size is the MAIN reason I think he'd be too much for Golovkin.
Ward by 8-4, 9-3 UD... There Might Be a ROUGH Patch or 2, but Ward would Weather them, Regroup & Resume his Brand of Understated Dominance...Having Said That, REED Doubts a Loss to Ward would Hurt GGG's Appeal @ All... REED:mj:
I'm one of the people riding the Golovkin hype train, but Ward is simply too gifted for this guy. I could see GGG score a flash knockdown en route to a one-sided points loss. GGG is the goods no doubt, but Ward is #1-2 p4p for a reason.
If golovkin kod Martinez or Chavez jr he'd have all the leverage and should tell ward to drop 8 pounds if he wants the payday like ward did to Dawson
Ward is and will be the shot caller ala Mayweather until he is beaten. He's done far too much at this point and I can't see anything Golovkin does give him leverage over Ward. Those two at a catch would be fair to both.
agREED... Being ARGUABLY THE Best Guy in the World, Lb for Lb, Carries its OWN Leverage...The PURSE SPLIT May Be a Lower % than Ward's Accustomed To, but the WEIGHT Will Be NO LOWER than He Wants it to Be... REED:mj:
Right on, there is no way Andre would have to make concessions to anyone. The purse split I agree, Ward would have to eat it a bit due to GGG's growing drawing power. Let the legend live on, this Golovkin just made a few weight divisions much more interesting.
Yeah it's not inconceivable at all that Gaybox could become a bigger star and be the "shot caller" in at matchup. Like Xplosive said, size is the main reason I would pick Ward.
Ward has the style to beat GGG for sure, but I'd like to see how Ward would react when GGG lands a flush shot to his chin, or a deadly hook to the ribs, yo.
Fight wouldn't even see a decision honestly, Ward would flat out stop the dude. He's much larger, can punch, and would hit him a lot.
Ward couldn't stop Allan fucking Green :: I'd be amazed if he stopped someone as dangerous as Gaybox, size difference or not. And no, he can't really punch. It's his main deficit as an elite fighter, his power is average at world level.
Average against a junior middleweight with an unproven beard is certainly good enough to stop him. Golovkin looks like the kind of fighter with a shaky chin too, just based on the dimensions of his face and the density of his head, but you never know.
I don't get that impression at all. As I said before, he hasn't had a chin check from a puncher yet, but any half decent punches he's taken so far haven't even made him blink. My guess is his chin is fine.
