Yeah I guess it has. Can't even remember the most recent card or fight I enjoyed, truth be told. I think I enjoyed the recent Jones and Sonnen TUF season more than any recent card or fight. I wonder why it's been so crap.
I theorize that it's going through a transitionary period at the moment. That said, UFC brass is all too willing to substitute big cards for mediocre crap while this transition is happening. Could be damaging long term for the brand. But crap like Rousey-Tate II headlining a traditionally prestigious end of the year card is shambolic and disheartening to say the least. I've been such a massive fanatic of the sport as a whole these last few years, and have even thought of getting a judging license, but when I saw that news, it was like someone just pissed right in my cheerios for a week straight.
Something that's a bit interesting to me. Anderson seems unusually displeased, and given how volatile his performances have been in the past, could be interesting to see what happens tomorrow. Could be another Demian Maia situation if Chris doesn't bring it.
Anderson in 2. I want to say in 1, but he sometimes likes to piss around and play if he's not worried about the guy.
It still amazes me that so many other fighters are picking Weidman. Obviously he has the tools to win, but so did a lot of guys on paper.
He's Probably DISPLEASED by Soooooo Many of his Peers Picking the OTHER Guy....To REED, Silva's a No Brainer vs Anybody But Bones Jones, UNTIL he Loses.... REED:hammert:
Silva's going to fuck Weidman up at some point. Lots of the other fighters picking him have trained with him or whatever so I put no real stock in that.
Agreed. To so readily pick a guy as unproven as Weidman over a guy who is 16-0 in the UFC against a huge variety of fighters just makes no fucking sense at all, it's absurd.
We get to see how his best win holds up against a fairly average middleweight here...should be interesting.
That first round round was one of the best scrambling and wrestling in MMA I can remember in a while. Tim Boetsch is a damn game, and a good fighter. Both guys looked good tonight, Munoz just looked better.
yes sir. That was a chess match that i was enjoying. Boestsh is fucking game no doubt. But munoz had something to prove tonight and he was not going to be denied.
This version of Mark Munoz would've been a much better test for Weidman than the ball of unprepared fat that he knocked out.

no matter who wins this fight, i have said this before and stand by it. I pick elite wrestling over elite BJJ any day of the weak.
Think it's most intriguing when an elite BJJ fighter has great wrestling..then you have a truly dangerous fighter. Like Maia at 170 and Jacare.
