Hate the guy honestly. Only time I thought he ever got ripped off was the second Benson fight, and he hosed BJ bad the first time. At least he wasn't his typical negative nancy self tonight and the fight was pretty good. Oliveira may have more potential than I thought...he looked pretty good here. He just needs some momentum and he needs to stop getting punched in the head so much.
As a huge Penn fan I used to hate Frankie but I have warmed to him. His fights are entertaining as hell. I'm with you on Oliveria that guy has bags of potential.
I want silva to win, but im picking weidman. Based off his wrestling and how bad Silva is with Wrestling. Weidman has great submission too. Hope im wrong.
First round for Weidman. Pretty much expected. Took him down and pounded him. Second half anderson doing his showboating, but not doing anything. Weidman is too patient for that bullshit.
Epic result. :: Anderson's balance was terrible there and his head straight in the air....bound to happen.
yup. Anderson thinks he is Bruce Lee. He aint. I knew Chris would win, but not like this. oh well. Superfight isnt so super anymore.
I think Anderson gets away with that 3 years ago...to be fair. He's slower now and his reflexes are starting to go. Honestly he's been taking a lot of punches for several fights now, his chin has just been so great historically it was ok....but he put himself in a position where his chin wasn't going to hold up anyway.
what a fucking night. All the guys in this thread that doubted weidman and didnt know who he is, you know now.
plus silent remember when you said when a guy has great wrestling and great BJJ that is something dangerous. That is what this kid has. Great wrestling and BJJ.
On the bright side it didn't look to be a particular brutal knockout. If Silva wants to fight a little longer he should be fine.
I dont know what fanboying is. Im just being honest. It's clear as day that the difference between those guys and Weidman is that calmness and him not getting mind fucked by silva. But lets be clear, Weidman will never be the champion silva was.
He's good but didn't look outstanding. He kind've rushed a leglock and looked to be a bit uncomfortable in the fight. A rematch would be interesting just to see how Weidman would do if Anderson brought it to him, but it may not happen and it's not something I care to see that much...if Anderson does move on or retire then it is time for the new generation of fighters.
When silva said he was tired, that was such an honest statement. Like RJJ, it's hard fucking work staying on top for so long. Silva should do whatever he wants. He deserves it. And it seems like he wants non title fights. Possibly against guys like GSP and Jones without all the added pressure of being champ.
That leg lock was close to getting in. Yeah he rushed it. But he didnt rush to GNP him like sonnen did. He took his time and analyzed it.
Silva-GSP would do fine numbers and would draw plenty of intrigue, but GSP probably is masturbating to the gif of the Silva KO and will now say that Silva doesn't deserve the fight.
And GSP would be correct. Silva doesn't deserve a fight with GSP on the heels of getting knocked out cold. Sure, GSP is always a big draw but it's no longer a "Superfight".
