Yeah shame on me for picking the MMA GOAT over a guy who was pretty unproven. Yes I have seen Weidman look great against Munoz but less than great against Maia and so so against Sakara. Silva fucked around and got KO'ed oh well. I don't imagine I am the first person to get a prediction wrong.
silva tried a ricardo mayorga and got nate campbelled. that was some embarrassing shit. i thought silva was on his way to win after he got up from that takedown. he should've focused more on the leg attacks and mixed up w/ some knees, but he clowned way too much and got caught.
btw, picking silva isnt bad. Totally dismissing Weidman and dismissing him based off a fight against maia, which he won on 11 days notice is something to be ashamed of.
I thought it was too much too soon for Weidman as well. But at the end of the day, Weidman was mentally ready for Silva's game. And as the days go by I hope no one starts making excuses for Silva like injuries or age.
Its so risky to throw kicks and knees with a wrestler. I could understand what he was trying to do. He wanted to psych weidman out and psych himself up. But it backfired on him. Suck to lose the title like that.
Let's be real Weidman didn't even look good TONIGHT. Let alone the Maia and Sakara fight. To date his only impressive win has been against an out of shape Munoz. If Anderson doesn't fight anymore I'd like to see him fight Vitor or Jacare assuming he gets by Okami.
No, it still isn't. This is like suggesting dismissing Serra in the first fight was something to be ashamed of...it really wasn't. In fact, Weidman basically knocked Silva out on the heels of some goofy right backhand slap that got Anderson out of position in the first place while he was clowning around. Either a stroke of genius on Weidman's part or what they call beginner's luck....probably the latter.
What constitutes looking good? He won the first round pretty easily. Took silva down and landed some good shots. Almost sunk in a submission too. Then in the second round when Anderson jumping around all over the place (hard too look good against that), Weidman knocked him out. I would say Weidman looked pretty damn good. Against Maia? Nope he didnt look good. But again, he took that fight on 11 days notice.
Anyone dismissing Weidman based on the maia fight 11 days notice. A fight in which weidman won, should be ashamed. There are other reasons to dismiss weidman. That particular fight is not one of them.
Yep. And I honestly thought he was going to get that leg. Too me, Weidman going for the leg was really a telling point. He proved he wasn't afraid of losing position or standing with Silva.
That leglock wasn't even close. It was about as close as that RNC that Rogan tried to trick the casual viewers into thinking actually had a shot against Rousey. The fact that Weidman slowed down, got stuffed on two takedowns in the second round, and then tried to exchange with Silva and was losing pretty decisively until the one punch KO is not a great performance by any stretch.
No he didn't. He took him down in half guard, got neutralized failed a sub and then lost a tiny bit of standup at the end of the round. Like I said, you are clearly fanboying or are just playing up Weidman to make yourself look good because you picked him before the fight. Sonnen actually had a MUCH better first round before he got stopped. He actually mounted Silva and did real damage. Weidman landed a few punches but most were deflected and not that damaging.
Not really. He was trying to bob out of the way of punches using his quickness and reflexes and got caught...that has a lot to do with reflexes.
I know what he was TRYING to do and it was stupid. His reflexes were fine. His choice to clown wasn't.
Getting stuffed and clowning by silva doesn't equal losing pretty decisively. I saw no instances where silva was winning this fight. Moving around and not landing anything significant is not winning decisively. In any country. And im sorry, but that leg lock was close.
He landed several leg kicks to Weidman's nothing. He was winning. And honestly I'm growing weary of this because I'm seriously questioning your motivations. If you are seriously trying to sell this guy as being some sort of killer than I'm sure you'd be willing to bet on him in upcoming fights.
He dominated the first round. He was landing good shots from the bottom and was in the controlling position. No doubt Sonnen Dominated more. Never disputed that. But Weidman still dominated the fight and won. And as for playing it up to make myself look good cause i picked him before the fight, i usually pick the winners. I have a good track record of it. I dont need to play myself up.
insignificant leg kicks. They were not hard. They were just for show. The significant strikes were landed by Weidman when he won by KO. As for my motivation, im not sure what you mean. My motivation is discussing an MMA fight, in an MMA forum with MMA fans. Is that some cause for investigation? Betting on Weidman's next fight before i know who he fights? How has that worked out for you before?
The whole thread was basically about how Chris was a nobody and no way he beats silva. Now we are discussing the outcome in which Weidman beat silva, and it's grandstanding? Did you think this topic was not going to come up? When people stay shit like the maia fight was a main indicator of Weidman not being able to beat silva despite the fact that Weidman won and took the fight on 11 days notice, they deserve to be called out about it. I get it. you picked Silva. You are upset. I wanted silva to win. But i picked Weidman. Im upset about potential superfights with Jones now meaning nothing. I said so just before this fight even happened.
Actually you never picked Weidman. You did say you were thinking about it. I was pulling for Silva until he started clowning.
Yep, i thought we were gonna see five rounds of brutal GNP when he took him down. But with chris not getting caught.
