He was dominating the standup. Weidman took him down in round 1 and landed a couple of shots, then Silva at least evened the round up when they got back to their feet. Then Silva was winning round 2 easily before basically allowing himself to be KO'd.
It might be surprising to some, but Weidman landed more standing strikes than Silva in both rounds. As Paulie Malignatbite proves, landing more shots doesn't mean you're winning the stand-up but I was surprised when I read it.Maybe it's the effect of showboating but I thought Silva landed more than he actually did. In fact, according to FightMetrix, Silva landed Zero punches in the 2nd round and just 3 leg kicks.
It's not Surprising to REED... The Showboating CREATED Opportunities for Silva to COUNTER, but he Simply Didn't Exploit them, for Whatever Reason... REED:hammert:
Joe Rogan: Does that mean you plan to retire? Silva: No... But no more for belt. I tired. Time to respect my family. WTF? This is why he needs to use an interpreter.
In the link I posted from pre-fight, he gives Weidman a better chance at winning and says the same about not wanting a rematch.
Both Brazilians and Kazakhs alike should use the interpreter whenever an interview takes place. Silva, Tszyu and Golovkin sound like no-pussy getting Dungeons and Dragons nerds every time they open their mouths.
What did silva have for Weidman? Silva landed nothing. Yet silva was winning the fight? After losing the first round? Really?
yea, silva wasn't winning at all. he landed a few leg kicks, but didn't appear to land any punches. i dont see this as a flukish performance. silva did what he normally did and it didn't work. i wouldnt pick him in the rematch either. if he fights w/o clowning around (assuming his hands will be held up high), that's deviating from how he normally fights. not sure how that's gonna work when weidman can then take that shit to the ground.
Silva after the loss. Taking it like a fucking Champ. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/BYmhFwUPna0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I'd wager you haven't really followed this guys career if you actually think that. If Silva doesn't bother to be super spectacular and dangerous and fights a smart fight I'd seriously doubt he loses.
If silva didnt fight dangerous and with his hands down, no way he stuffs takedowns. He just isnt that good at TDD.
cool. Now show the evidence of that. Weidman was actually slipping anderson's punches. And landing on him. Lets not forget. The reason anderson was clowning and acting hurt initially was because Weidman was landing on him and Sliva tried to claim he wasnt hurt. count the punches in the final exchange alone. Go ahead. You can do it.
All but the Last 1, which Grazed by Silva's Face, as he Lay Motionless...Fight was Already a WRAP by then Though... IMPRESSIVE as Hell, Nonetheless... REED:cheer:
