His "counter punching skills" won' do shit against Mayweather. Even an old Floyd. Canelo simply doesn't have the stamina to fight at the pace he'd need to fight to have a chance against Mayweather.

He's just gonna outboxed all night.

Fine. That's my take too. What's the point in the snide quotation marks though? Canelo doesn't have counter punching skills? :dunno::scratcher:

Ehhh, I think the safe bet at this point is Floyd via 8-4ish.

Only because he's slowed down, and Canelo brings at least as much to the table as old Cotto did.

I had Floyd beating Cotto 9-3.

Canelo will do about as good as Cotto, but will lose clearly.

IF Floyd dominates, or stops Canelo, it'll be highly impressive.

He hasn't stopped anyone in eons, unless the bizarre Ortiz kiss fight counts, which at least on paper it does. If he can stop Canelo, I'd be highly impressed too and downright shocked. But I can see Floyd giving away the customary first two rounds in this fight and Canelo could probably take another 2-3 after that. If the judge who scored the Alvarez-Trout fight 117-110 or whatever it was for Canelo, a ridiculous SD win for Floyd wouldn't be out of the question.

PBF has 2 ko's since fighting at 147 or above , doubt Canelo will be number3

Can't see it either, unless some kind of "No Mas" shit went down. Considering Floyd's safety first mentality and his hand issues, I think he and his fan base would be fine walking out of there 116-112 winners with no knockdowns.

Floyd will be just fine leading against Canelo if that's Canelo's plan, he can potshot from the outside if he has to. Canelo's stamina is the big 'if' here, if he gets tired, Floyd will pick up on it & he WILL get stopped.

Just giving you a hard time.:nana:

In all seriousness, Canelo will have to fight in a style that's not him if he wants to have a chance. And I don't think he's capable.

I think if Alvarez takes a leaf out of Guerrero's book and forces Floyd to lead and punches with him he'll have a chance of landing the odd big shot & making Floyd hesitant.....there's a chance Floyd will just be too damn fast for Alvarez to do a thing though!

Cotto did much better than Guerrero.

Guerrero started out being crafty, sneaky, and applying some intelligent pressure. He gave up though, and started to become too hesitant, from Floyd's very sharp, fast counters.

Cotto just did a (very) poor man's Duran impersonation, rushing Floyd to the ropes, roughing him up, landing bodyshots etc.

Canelo is not a pressure fighter, and I'm not sure he can even impersonate one as well as Cotto did, plus he is not at a big speed deficit, but a range deficit too. I think it'll be fairly 1 sided.

Cotto used the jab really well against Mayweather, whenever they'd finish an exchange he'd pop a couple of jabs into Floyds mush as he backed away

I scored both fights 9-3. If Cotto did better it's just because he is better/bigger/more talented....tactically i think Guerrero was smarter. He did more with less, if you like

Not sure about that, I think financially it would make more sense to keep Floyd unbeaten as he brings in more cash than anybody in the sport right now.

Wow that is strange. I scored Floyd Vs Cotto 7 to 5, I think Cotto did very well, and controlled much of the action.

Floyd vs Guerrero, I think I scored 11-1 or 10-2.

A key point is Floyd looked much, much better against Guerrero. After a promising start I felt Rob pretty much let Floyd do what he wanted, and didn't even try to force the action or turn the fight around. Cotto tried fucking hard, right up until the last round, didn't let Floyd get into a rhythm, and made Floyd look uncomfortable for half the fight.

Who would be doing the robbing, De La Lovesongs?

Can't see it to be honest, but then again Pacquiao getting robbed against Braddles was pretty insane.

If Pac/Bradley can happen, Floyd definitely isn't safe against a big up & coming star like Canelo (who refs & judges have been unusually kind to thus far - eg., Trout, Gomez)

I think Manny had shown signs of slipping in his previous two fights though, and Arum wanted to keep him in-house by losing to an unbeaten Top Rank fighter, who he probably hoped would become a "star" in his own right after beating Manny.
