Don't you think it's amazing that Hounslow has given the world both Jimmy Page AND Phil Collins?

Do any of you guys have bands you like with amazing longevity? Which bands have maintained a standard of output over a really long time?

In rock and roll, I can't really think of any, to be honest

Not that YOU care (:mj:) but Duke Ellington (and by proxy, his orchestra) never stopped making vital music until he died... like anybody, you could argue peaks and valleys... but the body of work is consistently incredible over a span of nearly 50 years

    But that is really unusual

In popular music/rock and roll, if you can make excellent records for 7 or 8 years, you've had a great run

buddy just sent me a pm that said YOU would be lucky to make excellent music for 7 to 8 seconds.

Buddy wouldn't know excellent music if Franz Liszt came back from the dead, played him a sonata and then shoved the entire Piano up his ass ... Guy probably unironically listens to "Chariots Of Fire" while jogging

I wouldn't pretend to. I'm white, I mainly like white music. I've posted plenty black music in this thread......only this morning I was listening to west african folk music on youtube for a solid hour (amazing) but on the whole I prefer white music. I'm a pasty Celt from an overcast post industrial city. That 70s funk stuff just makes me lolz.

And this is why you need to move out of your area and actually experience other cultures. 70s fulk isnt just music man. It's a whole fucking culture.

    The Hounslow Four:

Elvis Costello (Vocals and rhythm guitar)
    Jimmy Page (Lead guitar)
    John Entwistle (Bass)
    Phil Collins (Drums)

Holy fuck! Could you imagine?! Seriously, Hut and McDogg, just imagine that...close your eyes and you can almost HEAR it!

I definitely disliked it less than Led Zeppelin.:truce: Even with the lead singer gurning and telling the audience he was gonna cum in their face. Let's leave it at that.

Alright, Hut, you are smack dab in the middle of the Boogie Down Bronx and the year is 1958... now, grab the nearest senorita and dance it out... just dance it out, Hut

word... I agree... but Hut don't like instrumental displays of virtuosity, even tasteful, soulful ones... That's why I went with a brief, concise number

    RIP for sure.

I was in Nashville last week and was out at some downtown bar with a live band playing. The lead singer said their next song was a Lynyrd Skynrd classic. They proceeded to play "Call me the Breeze".

Poor songwriters never getting the credit they deserve.

And by the way, I am a huge fan of guitarist like Page, Eddie Van Halen, Hendrix, etc. But my two absolute favorites to listen to play live were Cale and Glenn Campbell. Odd but true.
