I think Tito Ortiz wins their fight by decision. Rampage appeared decent shape, not sloppy as usual.

:laughing::laughing: The guy old-ass, shot (in boxing, anyway) Mercer pole-axed with one elementary overhand right is apparently "known" in the cagefighting world for his striking ability

    NO ESCAPE

    CAN YOU STEP TO THIS?

Tim Sylvia was known for being big.

He's probably the worst guy to ever hold a title in the UFC. And he was shot when he fought Mercer anyway.

No worse than James Toney being dominated by a big sloppy MMA guy and nearly KTFO.

    It's way worse.

Not really. According to the boxing fanboys with the blinders on pro boxers are inherently amazing punchers with granite chins compared to the bums in MMA and kickboxing or pretty much any other martial art who apparently cant punch hard or take punches despite many of them being hit with small gloves, knees and shins.

So it stands to reason that a boxer should more easily be able to beat a shot MMA fighter considering his tool to victory isn't hindered in any way(especially considering this was in an event that was allegedly going to be striking only), than a sloppy MMA convert beating a shot boxer in a boxing match.

After all, he doesn't even punch properly! He's not a boxer! Also his chin must be terrible inherently....although a shot MMA fighter beating a boxer isn't really needed to disprove this stupid theory given the large amount of historical precedence of martial artists entering boxing and doing well.

No, it would be no worse if James Toney had *actually* been KTFO by a smaller, shot, fat 50 year old MMA fighter in a boxing match.

Ray Mercer in a wheelchair would knock out Tim Sylvia at ANY point in Sylvia's career.

But getting battered and then tapping out against Kimbo Slice, who has no background in any combat sport discipline, is about as embarrasing as it can possibly get.

Mercer, who smirked at the best shots of Lennox Lewis, begged the ref to save him against a former backyard brawler.

To me it isn't an indictment of either sport. It's a testament of how low some former athletes will go to make a buck.

Ray Mercer could very well be the UFC heavyweight champion TODAY if Cain just stood in front of him trading shots. The difference is, Cain is not stupid, Tim Sylvia is STUPID. I think Mercer would KO a prime Sylvia as well, Sylvia might have been in better shape physically back then but mentally he was just as stupid back then. He would just stand there in front of Ray and get knocked THE FUCK out, Tim is just a big sweaty, hairy, OAF with no brain cells to spare. I think that's one of the reasons Dana didn't want him back. He just makes UFC look like some 2AM, last call barroom spectacle.

So knowing Ray Mercer was dominated in every aspect of fighting by a backyard brawler, you seriously suggest Mercer would beat Sylvia in his prime....

Sylvia wasn't a complete bum at one point, he had decent well rounded skills...and all he would have to do to win the fight is pretty much clinch.

But the point is Sylvia wouldn't clinch. He'd box with Mercer and get knocked out. Kimbo was actually smarter than Sylvia and quickly rushed Mercer's back against the cage.

If Kimbo had elected to throw punches with Mercer, he'd have gotten his head knocked off... LOL at "dominated at every aspect of fighting"

Yeah, he quit though. Couldn't hack it so went to boxing.

He did throw a lot of punches and elbows and Mercer. The difference is this was hybrid combat and not sport boxing, so the time they were standing was a realistic representation of such.

Mercer mostly just stood there and covered up....shoulder roll isn't doing you any good with two hands behind your head.

Next I'm sure I'll hear Ray Mercer would've knocked Bojansky's head off if he didn't decide to kick him in the ear.

So yeah. This guy had no boxing background whatsoever. He was basically just a big strong guy that trained MMA and Kung Fu of all things...he didn't even have any intention of going into boxing but did so after being stopped by the mighty Jim York.

Beat James Tony though with his incredible punching technique he inherently gained by becoming a boxer, clearly.

I thought he beat James Toney with Toney's 95 year old man reflexes, mush brain and third trimester pregnancy

Right. Precisely why Jones Jr who is probably more shot can easily lose this match as well, assuming he gets punched in the face.

He came out and immediately went into grappling... Immediately... He "dominated him in every aspect of fighting" except for the part where you actually throw punches (this is a type of fighting, is it not?)

Ray Mercer could beat Kimbo in a boxing match right now
