Byrd WAS a Small Heavyweight, but the FACT Remains, he Didn't ACCOMPLISH Shit South of There...Being a "Competitive Small Guy" ISN'T Enough...ATGness is about What You ACCOMPLISHED...

Byrd was a Heavyweight TITLIST, but Never THE Champion...

What I am saying is that Byrd standing in with these guys is great. I never said them beating him was great, because...well...it wasn't. Ibeabuchi plain as day sparked a guy that everyone else seemed to have a fuckload of difficulty with. He was a small guy who stood in with much bigger guys and made fools of them, With one exception, Ibeabuchi.

Jimmy Young was a superior fighter to Chris Byrd, nobody is ever calling him an ATG

Tony Ayala was one of the most natural talents around. I heard stories of him sparring world champions as a 16 year old and getting the better of it.

He also fought under the influence of heroin quite a bit.

Tua never fought like he did against Ibeabuchi in any other fight. His stamina was as un-Tua-like as any heavyweight performance can be.

The hype around Ayala doesn't match up when you watch his fights. I don't think he looks much different than Fernando Vargas did.

Jimmy, ironically, gets none of the respect he deserves, yet perversely, he was considered a big enough name to be worth slapping around, as far as Cooneys people were concerned. Jimmy lost respect because he was too slick for his own good. I think he was great, he could get in the ring, in that era, and not leave with Emmenthal for brains.

Tua was getting bulky around the time he fought that sparring partner dude Gary Bell.
