    I prefer New Order over both the Cure and Depeche Mode but I like those two bands. They have both done what every band hopes to do when they start out and that is to establish a strong fan base and keep it for over 30 years. Both of those bands can still go and sell out stadiums around the world and they are playing to their real fans. In fact they share a large percentage of their fan base.

    Obviously I don't agree with C-Dogg's analysis of these bands. To me these bands are the exact opposite of heavy metal. They play music that has a lot of emotion in it but it doesn't use the spoonfeeding techniques of metal like screaming into a mic, yelling, etc. Depeche is a lot more animated than the Cure. The lead singer takes off his shirt, yells to the crowd, runs around stage. One of the attractions to Robert Smith and the Cure is that they don't do those things.
