Oscar at each weight. Cotto would be competitive but i don't think he really has much of an edge anywhere against Hoya. He's probably a better body puncher but i doubt he gets past Oscar's jab enough for it to make a difference.
It's a close fight for a while but I don't like Cotto's punch resistance... Hoya at both weights by stoppage
Trinidad, Mosely I think dlh vs cotto is very competitive at either weight. I'd slightly lean dlh, but strongly be rooting for Cotto.
Whitaker, Quartey and Trinidad are all better than Cotto, man. And as mikE says, Oscar deserved the Mosley rematch too.

didn't have a better career, but I think Ike Quartey was better at fighting than Miguel Cotto and I'd lay my money down on him to win if we had a time machine
Quartey deserved the decision against Oscar, but there was very little separating them. Whitaker, at 147, wasn't in these guys' league. His only quality win was against Chavez, a 140 lber. Cotto, like dlh, was an excellent fighter who started losing when he ran into cheating pieces of shit.
McGirt was a right handed poor man's Whitaker who accomplished not much at 147. If you have to rely on Rivera, you are making my point. I thought dlh beat him clean and I thought Trinidad whipped Whitaker. Whitaker was overrated at 147. I'm not saying he sucked, but he wasn't very close to the lighter, younger, less coked Whitaker.
I liked Whitaker fine and Oscar might be the fighter I hated most during his career, but yes. Whitaker did some negative peck and piss, but I judge by who I'd rather be (in almost all rounds) and DLH was the one landing the stuff that mattered.
Probably, but I also think Trinidad was more suited to look good against certain styles and DLH more suited to look good against other styles.
While there is certainly truth to that I don't think it quite applies here. Trinidad use of the forearm to prevent Whitaker from holding was a smart tactic and obviously he had more power in his right hand than Oscar. I just don't know how much of a difference those things would have made against a better and more mobile Pernell.
Oscar beats Miggy at either weight. Miggy plain and simple was not in the same league as Oscar/Quartey/Tito/PRIME Shane.
and by a comfortable margin... threw more punches, landed more punches... had a higher connect rate on those punches... whitaker dictated the tempo... furthermore, DLH loses a point on a knockdown I just can't see how Whitaker didn't win the fight Hell, even if I thought it feasible for Hoya to "win", the scorecards were outrageous... It was like Whitaker wasn't even there... They gave him like 3 rounds... How can you only win three rounds when you get the other guy to fight YOUR fight, you throw more punches than him, you land more punches than him AND you knock the fellow down???
Yep, that's why it shocked me ht Mike thought Oscar clearly won. Personally I thought it was a boxing master class by Whitaker.

I rewatched De La Hoya-Whitaker again last night. Scored it 6 rounds each. If it weren't for that dumbass WBC rule about the cut I would have had Pernell by a point. Were the judges corrupt? I have no idea, but I do think they were at the very least influenced by crowd noise in favor of De La Hoya.
So you are saying that in a fight between two guys where one guy throws and lands more punches, does so at a higher connect rate and knocks the other guy down, you would rather be the other guy?
