Floyd beat that bum like a drum.

Canelo showed NOTHING... All that size all that power, all that bravado after getting tagged and he did nothing.

Mad respect to both Garcia and Matthyssee, though. Danny in particular keeps proving people wrong and I think now he'll start to get appreciated more.

canasshole was 15 lbs heavier and got beat like a bum

it was like Floyd was an angry pimp and Canasshole was a HOOKER who was strung out and didn't have the money

I actually expected the Ging to do a lot better than this. And it's not that I was underestimating Floyd, I think I didn't take into account how basic Canelo is.

Only reason he lasted the distance is cause Floyd has slowed. If it was the Mayweather of say, the Hatton fight, the Ginger would've been lit up horribly and stopped.

I actually feel like this was like watching Floyd take a big ass dildo and ram it slowly in and out of Canassholes corn hole. it would be dry and start bleeding and Floyd would only ram it faster and faster... then Floyd would sprinkle glass shards on the dildo and ram it and canasshole would be bleeding and bleeding and start cumming at the same time! it would be like a blood, poop, and Cum party in there!

In fact, I'd say outright that the version of Floyd that fought Hatton was the worst Floyd Mayweather of his career.

Young Floyd >= Master Floyd >> Middle Aged Floyd

GBP definitely tried to put the fix in tonight. CJ Ross should be banned from judging. 117-111 is giving Canelo every benefit of the doubt and the last round out of pity

Canelo just announced he is retiring and opening up a confectionery shop in Monterrey called "Saul's Super Sweets"

No, it's true. Floyd doesn't pull the trigger, and put together combos as often now.

I honestly think the Floyd of 07 vs Canelo would look the Gatti fight in the later rounds.

This also goes to show that even a semi-shot Oscar is far better than Canelo.

Canelo is a really big guy... It's difficult to really hurt a guy that big when you are Floyd Mayweather's size... Furthermore, opening up more is the best way to give the big guy a chance to land something... I disagree with the notion of Canelo getting anything close to the treatment Gatti got

Gatti was a smaller guy with a shaky beard... Every guy he fought hurt him whether they could punch or not

Canelo is a big guy who can take a shot... I don;t see a younger Floyd doing anything different than he did tonight

What in God's name are you talking about.

Floyd was basically relegated to an ugly single potshotter for his entire uninspired initial welterweight run. It was a horrible string of fights in general by Floyd Mayweather standards.

He's much more aggressive and asthetically pleasing currently...and he WAS lighting Canelo up...he simply has nowhere near the power needed to stop a guy like that.

Mayweather's performance against Hatton was effective, undoubtedly, but certainly nothing worthy of accolade. Hatton is one of the worst defensive fighters he ever fought and he did nothing but single potshot and hold. It got ugly enough where Hatton conceivably won 3 or so rounds before the KO in the 10th....and my god was there a lot of holding.

Floyd in 07 didn't look nearly as comfortable fighting at welterweight....and he was getting older and his legs weren't as great. He was in flux between Young Floyd and Master Floyd and was adjusting to his weight...and he looked pretty mediocre in the entirety of the first run.

Rocked by Judah wins by 4 points....barely squeaks by Oscar at 154(which, I think this version of Floyd handles that version of Oscar much easier), uneventful stink fest against Bumdomir...then the ugly slopfest against Hatton with a KO.

I'd say the Ortiz fight is when Floyd started to look comfortable and a really solid, in the pocket welterweight.

This... That is all there is to it... Floyd didn't hit any harder when he was fighting guys like Hatton.. If anything he's a sturdier guy now and sits down on his shots more... Canelo is a large guy with a good chin... you can't expect Mayweather to stop a guy like that

Nothing amazing about this performance at all....in fact Floyd arguably looked like crap.

I mean seriously...Lederman had Hatton ahead after 6...and I think that was a little generous, but given how generally negative Floyd was in that fight, not outrageous. I think this is the fight that really made him go and seriously overhaul his style and what he'd do to avoid going to the ropes. Floyd is incredibly studious, no doubt...he shows so many new wrinkles with time it's incredible.

As a guy who periodically watches almost all of Floyd's fights..I can see why Hut said he thinks he's better than he was 10 years ago.

His style is simply more much pleasing to watch and smoother. Floyd as a youngster was content to constantly "stink the joint out" and hold and potshot and do that sort of tactic. Now he's just comfortable sitting in the pocket and embarrassing guys with beautiful punches.

It's hard to rate guys based on style rather than effectiveness, but I don't think theres any doubt he's at least better than the old WW version of Floyd...the only question is if the considerable drop off in power he once held at the lower weights rates him lower than now...because back then he could really hurt guys and put them away...now it's more like a professor in session.

Some people on twitter are asking me how I scored the Mayweather fight........there's no point in replying to them.

SilentNight, perhaps I do stand corrected. However, I still believe that a younger Floyd would've touched him up more and rattled more combos off his head.

I'd agree if Canelo was smaller than 140lbs. Then yes, the young version of Floyd that fought at < 147 would have done more damage.

However that has nothing to do with age or slowing down and everything to do with size.

I think Floyd stunned Canelo a few times. Yall are acting like the Ging never flinched from any of Floyd's shots.

One thing that is for CERTAIN is that Floyd's handspeed has declined. A younger Floyd hitting Canelo with more speed/velocity on his shots, and the Ging would have been more effected.

I think Pacquiao even now lights up Ginger something serious.

Some say why Canelo tried to "box" Floyd but I think he's always fought that way. He's always been a guy more comfortable with his opponent taking the lead and throwing more. He's always done that.

He's not a Trinidad type pressure fighter. Doesn't have the stamina to pull that off.

Anyone up for a rematch with Garcia and Matthyssee?

Not just the stamina. He doesn't have the power, handspeed, and skill that Tito had either.

    C'mon man.

Floyd knew he didn't have the power he once had during his first stint in the higher weights and fought like it.

Like I said, around the Ortiz fight is when he started to become comfortable fighting WWs and being offensive while knowing he probably wasnt going to knock the other guy out. The commentators pointed to the shift in Floyd's style as if it were a bad thing, like he wasn't using his legs and using that more negative style as a result of getting old...Floyd simply replied "Because I don't have to"...and I think that was honest and apt, certainly he was getting older and needed to stop relying on his feet so much, but he finally looked comfortable fighting offensively in the pocket and boxing like he had in the past at lower weights...sans the power.

And he did stun him, but nowhere near enough to even knock him down. He sits down on his punches and throws with intention to harm but Canelo is 160lbs and solid, and from my studies which I stated before the fight has solid facial structure and thick cranium density...he hurt Cotto and Guerrero much more...Cotto he probably could've knocked out.

Compare this to the "younger" Floyd who never threw anything of mal intent against Baldomir or ODH...and really only KO'D Hatton because he walked into a potshot like an amateur...
