Why did you put Sh*tty Hatton on there? Hatton was well outside of his weightclass and powerless. Cotto was shot to sh*t and still bloodied up F*ckweather. Shane Mosley was a corpse. Zab Judah was a sack of sh*t. Canelo is a f*ckin' ginger mexican fag. This resume is a f*ckin' joke! ::

 

I'd have to think about it for a while in terms of ranking them but no way is De La Hoya out of the top 10.

I don't consider Alvarez a top ten on his resume

I'd go with this:

1. Corrales (one of the last times a lot of people picked against him and he put on a breathtaking clinic)
2. Hernandez (complete domination of a classy boxer)
3. Hatton
4. Castillo II
5. De La Hoya (yeah, he was well past prime but still quite good and a lot bigger)
6. Chavez (He made it look incredibly easy)
7. Judah (Impressively made adjustments after having trouble with Judah's speed and dominated the stretch run)
8. Cotto (Cotto tried hard, but this wasn't close)
9. Manfredy (Yeah, Angel wasn't that good, but he was considered a threat and got blown out)
10. Mosley (yes, he was washed-up but Mayweather shook off an early bomb and won it going away)

Alvarez had size going for him and not a whole lot else... I expected him to lose by a wide margin because he's not that good... That doesn't crack the top ten to me by any stretch

 

I don;t think he was necessarily washed-up... He was way past his prime, but he wasn't totally useless... Still a decent fighter... The guy that Pacquaio got was washed-up

On the night Mayweather fought him, how many guys from 147-154 fighting at that time would you have comfortably bet on against him? Maybe 2 guys? 3?

It's obviously not the same caliber of guy that was fighting Whitaker, Trinidad, Mosley and Quartey but he wasn't shot either

 

i think mayweather jr fought like horseshit against delahoya. i dont rank that victory.

 

i know i didnt consider a delahoya to be a top ten welterweight when he fought mayweather jr, when there was talk of him dropping down in weight. i just think the weight hurt mayweather jr and he was uncomfortable there and thus fought terribly.

 

I thought he won by a good 4 points against a guy that was the biggest he had ever faced... It's not his greatest victory, but it's more impressive to me that he comprehensively decisioned a still pretty good fighter with a ton of big fight experience and a lot more skill and accomplishments than Canelo Alvarez is ever going to have

It was fun watching him against Alvarez but it was what I expected to see because I don't rate the opponent... I'd favor the Hoya he fought to beat Canelo Alvarez

Exactly. I thought Oscar would win beat Manny at the time (as did most) because it appeared De La Hoya was cherry picking a top P4P fighter and was too big.

The former is true, but i never saw Oscar in such bad shape. He obviously wasn't in his prime against Floyd either but he wasn't a punching bag.

 

He'd looked sharp kicking the hell out of Mayorga in his previous fight... And if you look at who was ranked at 154 back then... who do you got? Cory Spinks? Forrest? Roman Karmazin?

I'd bet every peso I could scrape together on that Hoya against Canelo Alvarez... He wouldn't win every round like Floyd did, but he win comfortably

i think alvarez would have beat that version of delahoya, and even if he didnt win it would be close/competitive. wouldve definitely picked spinks or forrest over delahoya, wright too. he avoided a fight with karmazin for whatever reason.

Mike Tyson had a much easier time kicking the shit out of Tyrell Biggs than he did decisioning Tony Tucker, but Tony Tucker was a way better pro heavyweight than Tyrell Biggs so it's a bigger win

There really wasn't much of anything to ruin, IMO... He'd fought no one of note, just used-up guys who had been merely decent years earlier... He was being moved awful carefully... Their amateur history made for a good story line and Biggs, ranked 10th in The Ring (when that actually meant something) found himself high up on the ABC lists and got a title shot with 15 fights under his belt
