A few gave me flack for saying it'd be replay of the Campas fight. They said "Canelo is so much better than Campas". Might be true, but I don't think he'd fare any better. Tito brutally within 4-5.
I don't see how this would be one-sided. Canelo hasn't been shown to have a bad chin, he has good power and accuracy, and his defense is certainly superior to Tito's. Tito would've been even more embarrassed against Floyd, yall are too quick to shit on Canelo for losing that fight.
And you think Canelo has defense??? :: He eats punches for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a late night snack when he faces a world class opponent. Could Canelo beat either Vargas or Reid??
Canelo would likely lose to Reid, would DEFINITELY lose to Vargas, and would probably have his hands full with a strong guy like Thiam.
I dunno if Canelo even beats coke'd out version of Whitaker that Tito beat. For all the revisionists who act like Tito had the skill of Ben Tackie or something, it's false. Tito was FAR more skilled than Canelo. Just a superior talent to Canelo in damn near every way.
Yeah, when he faces Floyd Mayweather Jr. As if Floyd wouldn't undress Tito in the worst possible way. Canelo might beat Reid, probably not Vargas. Styles make fights, though.
ok we haven't seen enough of canelo yet to judge. we saw canelo lose to the greatest fighter of our generation (gratest fiter of are times). we saw tito get undressed by de la hoya in his prime, hopkins in his prime, and then follow winky wright around eating jabs like a tomato can in one of the most embarrassing efforts ever put forth in a ring. lo siento, tito sucks.
The Oscar of 99 would have beaten the living fucking shit outta Canelo and stopped him in a VERY one sided fight. We've seen PLENTY of Canelo to know that he's not on Tito's level. Would you HONESTLY pick Canelo over a prime Vargas? Let alone Tito. If you would, I'd like to hear that reasoning.
Prime Tito would have been more competitive with that version of Mayweather than Canelo was that's for sure. If Canelo would have been around during the 147-154 pound era of Wright, Trinidad, Mosley, De La Hoya, Vargas, Forrest, Quartey, Reid, and he fought them all, he'd have had 8 losses on his record and at least 4 via stoppage. He'd have the best chance against Reid, though. And if Quartey came in lazy, possibly him too but other than that, I can't see him doing anything of note. Canelo would have just been a name that those guys beat.
I don't think Oscar would've "stopped Canelo in a one-sided fight," I would definitely pick Oscar to beat him but I think it'd be a decent fight. Post-Tito Vargas gave Oscar a good fight. Who did Oscar ever "beat the living fucking shit out of" at 154?
Canelo would probably beat Reid. Other than that, out of those names, the only one Tito beat was Vargas.. with a little help from a low blow or two.
You're so unreasonable when it comes Tito that this debate is pretty worthless. Canelo has beaten NOBODY that Tito wouldn't destroy. Austin Trout is a decent fighter, but Trinidad would have blown through him. And I have SERIOUS doubt that a 40 year old Mosley would go the distance with a young Tito. At the end of the day, Canelo is a guy that will always depend on his power, and strength to win. And Tito was stronger, with FAR more power, a better skill set, a higher ring IQ, and MILES MILES better stamina. So pray tell, how in the Hell is Canelo better?
Trout is a good boxer but not on the level of De La Hoya let alone Hopkins. The guy gets hit in spite of his good skills. Hard to believe its gotten to the point that people would pick Canelo to be competitive let alone win against Trinidad.
Watch Canelo vs Jose Miguel Cotto round 1 @ 1:30mn and say that again. The Cotto brother was not known as a great puncher. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vanP8itF8rQ <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/vanP8itF8rQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
He was momentarily buzzed by a good, clean shot and recovered very quickly That's not evidence of a bad chin
