Dereck Chisora vs Edmund Gerber for Euro title tonight - German hopes crushed

So, not a particularly big fight but might be worth seeing since this will be the type of bout everybody likes to watch: a weakling fag tries to stay away by moving and flicking useless jabs, and the bigger tougher guy will eventually steamroll him.

Chisora weighed in at career-lowest 235 lbs (12 lbs less than against Haye). He is an all-around solid guy with pretty good technique, sturdy chin and heavy if not powerful punches. That is not enough to be a top-10 contender in today's strong division but he is an OK gatekeeper.

As for Gerber, he goes to show how desperate Team Sauerland is to find a German-born champion. Usually Sauerland is pretty strict with their fighters, kicking out the lost hopefuls, but they let Gerber hang around even though it is obvious he is not good. Gerber lost to Sprott and needed a gift against Oloukun. He has a useful jab and nothing else.

At heavy Sauerland has Povetkin, Pulev, Boytsov and Helenius, their biggest names overall in the past few years have been Abraham and Huck, all who are not born in Germany. So they are hoping against hope that Gerber would become the leading heavyweight and brings the fans back. Look and enjoy how that hope crushes tonight
