Is anyone calling for Mayweather vs. Pacquiao if Pac beats Rios?

It's an irrelevant fight to me but will obviously still make lots of money if it happens.

I would have picked Floyd by a wide margin before Pac got concussed. Now it's not even interesting to me anymore.

Never understood why Floyd didn't chase this payday harder when it actually meant something. Maybe it's the power southpaw factor that Pac brings to the table, it makes Floyd nervous. Floyd thinks he won't see it, same way lots of Pacs opponents had a hard time adjusting to it in early rounds.

    I don't know.

Whatever it Is/Was, Floyd was Undoubtedly SPOOKED by Pacquiao...

Yeah, I guess, but like C-Dogg said, fuck 'em both. Wasn't like Pac was exactly pushing for this fight either. Just seemed like they bluffed each other out of this fight ever happening. When Pac wanted the fight, Floyd didn't, when Floyd acted like he wanted the fight, Pac didn't want it. They both had their excuses when it suited them.

    Fuck 'em.

Wasn't Floyd's PRE-Fight Guarantee Something like $50 MIL, Back when the Fight was RELEVANT???....Floyd Would've JUMPED on It, Arum or Otherwise, if he WASN'T Spooked by Manny Pacquiao...

The matchup and the hype around it would have been great for the sport as a whole... But the individuals involved, both fighters and promoters were interested low-risk/high-reward and were content to make a fortune while holding the match out there like a carrot on a string

Can you imagine if Leonard had never fought Duran? Say whatever you like about whether or not either Floyd or Manny belong in the same class as those two greats but there's no doubt that they were the most similar to them in this generation and their not fighting when it mattered the most may rank as the worst disappointment from a fan perspective in the whole history of the sport

Hard to think of one... Bowe/Lewis was a big let-down but not on this scale by a long shot

Going back further into history I can't find anything like it, really... From a justice standpoint, the dozen or so amazing black fighters frozen out of title shots in the 1940s (especially at 175 and 160, where it was scandalous, frankly) but that is a dissapointment of and on behalf of individuals who deserved better more than it is a disappointment of the whole fan base

This will get me pegged as a Black & White lover on this site, but you might have to go all the way back to Jack Dempsey / Harry Wills

Maybe Tyson / Lewis, simply for the fact it happened a few years too late.

Tyson vs Holyfield was past it's stale date.

I've always believed if they'd fought in 1991 Tyson would have won.

Quite possibly but i think any version of Evander that's not shot gives Mike a lot of problems. Not even the absolute best version of Iron Mike is going to walk over Holyfield in a couple of rounds.

Still can't compare those to the P4P two best in boxing not fighting each other... Those were disappointing but nothing like this

Yeah, even a fight in 91 would have likely been competitive. For the life of me though, I can't see Vander beating the 87-88 Tyson.

Me neither. Mike was a different beast back then and Holyfield got hit even more and wasn't as sturdy taking the punches

    Dempsey / Wills

Wills was paid more then Babe Ruth was making at the time, to NOT fight Dempsey.

What about the 1986 1/2 Tyson, with his coffee timed properly, but he IS slightly constipated?

What about February 1989 Tyson..........he's just eaten a large pizza, but he's ALSO just had his dick sucked by a timid supermodel and Kevin Rooney is shouting instructions to him from the 3rd row?

No, but they are using an ancient cyrillic script, devised the night before the fight in order to confuse Holyfield's corner. Tyson has grasped most of it, but sometimes confuses a "Ze" for a "Zhe", and a "Tse" for a "Te". Because of this they sometimes use placards instead of voice commands, and Holyfield has it figured out by the 7th round.

Tyson coulda hurt him but you had to kill holyfield to finish him when he was younger. Give me holyfield in a more competitive fight

Neil, who do you have winning between Tyson and the 70s George Foreman who pulverized guys like Frazier and Norton?

I think Evander just had Mike's number... No way of really knowing for sure, but I think he pretty much always beats the guy... Like Neil said, you could hurt Evander but getting him out of there was a tall order

Agreed. Tyson's marketing value was so much bigger than either Floyd's or Manny's that Tyson vs Holyfield in '91 would have been a bigger event, but from the sport's perspective it isn't close
